optimistic, but I'm not hopeful,
Percy's never done anything similar prior, doesn't care about boosting sales or his profile (look at the recent article on why he turned down Iommi's invite to the B'Ham concert) at this stage in his life and anything Pagey signs, is few and far-between, in very limited numbers, and priced sky-high. I hope I'm wrong.
Who is Percy?
Lol. Not really a newbie to Zeppelin but I had never heard that before. Interesting. I actually met Robert Plant at the GM RenCen in Detroit like 20 years ago.He was there when he was doing the Cadillac commercials. Long story but my buddy was down there and let me cut in line right at the front. So we were able to get 2 things signed before they quickly changed to one per person.
A big deal when Zep licensed their music for the car brand,
seems much more common today, and expected for an artist to do. I didn't know he made it to Detroit as part of that. I got backstage preshow on the first P/P Tour (via a friend in radio) and they both signed my Zep I, first P/P album, and the 12x12" booklet from the box set, which all still feels like a dream and had me completely speechless at the time.
Managed to get on Rockline to ask Plant a question too, and they sent me a gift box, including a signed CD, which was great, so I feel very lucky for both circumstances.
I’d be surprised if he did. He never has in the past
highly doubt it
That is freaking amazing that you got backstage and got double sigs from both Page and Plant !!!
WOW!
I met Plant outside Massey Hall in Toronto and he signed my ticket for me.
I totally missed out on Page when he came to Indigo Book Store in Toronto,
I never knew until I saw it on the 6 oclock news and was sooooo gutted.
It would be a dream to meet Page in person. You're so lucky jayceman !
I have been fortunate to meet and get sigs in person from Paul McCartney, Elton John,
David Bowie, all original KISS, Alice Cooper, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins...
but Jimmy Page...now THAT would be amazing!
Thanks, yeah, I don't really get starstruck and dumbfounded,
but completely was, that time. Even now, it's still hard to put into words all the joy their music has provided me over the years.
Similar was Prince, when I got a high-five from, and quick word in with him at Paisley Park, but at least I managed to get out 'thank you for all the music' before nerves got the best of things (and just like that, he disappeared anyway). Never got Prince to sign though, as he stopped giving autographs in general, years before.
Very cool Prince story, sometimes a meeting/handshake/high-five is
as good as an autograph (definitely better than a purchased autograph)!
You can't get much bigger than meeting Prince...and at Paisley Park to boot !!!
