Beware: PSA/DNA Authenticated Paul McCartney “Signed” Silver Certificate From eBay Seller SportsSignatures03

This item is the subject of a previous discussion. I’m reposting it with a new title as it appears as though it isn’t going to be removed from sale by the eBay seller or from the PSA/DNA authentication database.

Here’s the original signature, which actually appears in the PSA AutographFacts database. It’s clearly the same exact signature in a more complete form.

Unfortunately believable. "Our Label May Mean Authentic" is generous at this point. It's a joke. This should be pinned forever. Outstanding work Mark, even though they won't do the right and honest thing.

Thanks, Eric. They should at least do the right thing in this case when the answer was in their own AutographFacts database.

+1 exactly. This is awful and a very bad look for them with this and the forgeries and secretarials on various Facts pages...

As a business standpoint, I can see why PSA is stuck.. but I know of a way they can fix this easily. They can just purchase this item back themselves and keep it in their possession as a physical bad example. Pretty sure they make enough money to do so. This should never have been authenticated in the first place. They need to correct their mistakes somehow.

This is not a perfect scenario. The fraudster still benefits and may continue to replicate these. The only other way I can think of would be to trace the history back to where this originated from and take action with the creator. This would be the best option but would probably need to involve the FBI and I doubt PSA is going to want the bad publicity.

The eBay seller should know they may be under investigation at some point regardless if this is pulled from eBay or not. If more of these are created, I believe it will eventually force an investigation

We can start the paper trail here ourselves so it's available. If by chance creators are stupid enough to continue and this explodes into a major problem, the info will be available. I don't know if multiple tips would trigger an alert? Wouldn't hurt though. I'll submit a tip. I filled it out under fraud and added PSA as the business victim. Is there anything else we can do?

The seller is SportsSignatures03

If someone is willing to risk it, this could be purchased and returned under eBays policy, this would give someone a chance to examine this closer.

Here's pictures of the eBay listing in case it gets pulled

Thanks, Jason. I once reported a bad item to PSA and they asked me if I owned it. I wonder if they would have offered to purchase it from me had I said yes.

Here’s the only other silver certificate I’ve seen with that same signature:

I am equally concerned about other artists signatures being created the same way on other items The dollar bill my have been chosen to "obscure" the signature - it is a very busy background. It would be interesting to see in hand with the "ink" and the texture of the bill....

Autographia is looking to drop ship it. It’s only $5,439.93 if you’re a first time customer.

Update: This dollar bill with the same signature is back on the market. It was initially sold for $300 and then the seller was trying to resell it for $1,500. I alerted the seller and they took down the listing.

THREE different serial numbers! How many of these are there?

Wow! Nicely done. It has been about four months and apparently PSA is still trying to figure out if the one they authenticated is real.

You should show them this new specimen. Perhaps only then will they be convinced of the grave mistake they made.
