Hey guys I know this has been discussed on here previous, however I’ve just purchased this at auction on a bit of a whim, and every top authenticator I have sent it to, other than Garry King, thinks it’s fake. What’s everyone’s thoughts? And what would you do if you were me? 🥴🤦🏻‍♂️

As I mentioned in our conversation a few hours ago, this is a sample that has already been shown. Frankly, there are aspects that closely resemble John's signature. For example, the J suggests it's possibly from 1963 or perhaps early 1964. The Ns have the correct angle, but they're slightly more pointed than usual. The loop in the Ns looks a bit odd, but I've seen it in other samples. That's the complicated world of signature analysis, my friend.

To illustrate your points Raul, here is mine from early 1964:

The auction house you bought it from had some bad fakes in their last auction including a horrible Pink Floyd LP.
I'd listen to "every top authenticator" you sent it to and get your money back.

They also had some real good ones, so we know that’s not the way to go about things.

Not for me.

what auction house was it from pl?

Lacy Scott and Knight

This isn’t authentic unfortunately and when it comes to Beatles autographs Garry isn’t the best so you can’t take his word on it, over the years there’s been tons of these single John fakes, a large majority are in this style.

I guess it’s all about opinions isn’t it, for Example, I have a piece which Epperson didn’t like but Caiazzo did…Garry I think authenticates for Propstore I believe, who are globally massive, he has also done a lot of work for the police in finding forgeries so when it comes to authentication it’s very much opinion based right?

exactly, mainly based on opinions, having experience helps and not trying to be a one size fits all usually helps too, but you can send an item to 5 different guys and you could get 5 differing opinions !!! 🤣

That particular Lennon style is a highly forged  and very common faked style and has been for several years now, I would personally stay away from them.

plus a lot of authenticators know that they’ll never be called out if they get it wrong as not everyone will agree !

Yeah minefield 🤣 which is annoying because there will be some (in this example) genuine John’s which will pass through the net because of the volume of forgeries 😕

Unfortunately yes

spending a lot of time over a lot of years is one of the best ways to go, these days everyone wants to be an overnight expert 🤣
