My order from Premiere was just refunded. I guess without them saying it, there are fakes/questionable/secretarial ones JSA won't pass

You've lost me...how does them giving you a refund equate to JSA not passing them? Apologies if this is linked to an earlier post.

Mine was canceled and refunded as well. "Circumstances outside of our control" - well... Maybe all the signatures didn't pass authentication?

Did anyone get a signed book from Premiere at all?

Here's what they wrote:

An Update on Your Michael Douglas Order

Hi ANDREAS,

We're writing about your order for One Helluva Ride by Michael Douglas.

Due to circumstances outside of our control, we are unfortunately unable to fulfill this edition. As a result, your order for this book has been canceled and a full refund has been issued to your original payment method. Refunds usually appear within 3–5 business days, depending on your bank.

If your order included any other items, they are not affected and will ship as planned.

We're so sorry for the disappointment, and we thank you for your continued support.

Warmly,
The Premiere Collectibles Team

Mine got cancelled as well.

This stinks.

Last we heard from Premiere, they were “conducting a thorough review of the books” and “relying on the expertise and guidance of our independent third-party authentication partners.” They said they would provide “a more definitive response” once the review was completed. (You can read their statement here).

Premiere began issuing unsolicited refunds today without providing an explanation. Only when customers reached out did they receive one of two explanations I’ve seen so far: “circumstances beyond their control” or the “potential use of an autopen or secretarial signature.”

So did JSA or another third-party authenticator take a position on the signatures? Did they pass, fail, or come back inconclusive? And which signatures were examined? Were they only reviewing the abbreviated signatures in marker, or were the full-name marker and ballpoint versions also included?

I’m glad Premiere canceled these orders if there were legitimate concerns about their authenticity. But they probably had little choice. If JSA did in fact determine that the signatures were not authentic (or inconclusive), Premiere would have faced the same decision it did during the Liza controversy: Could it reasonably cancel the JSA orders while still fulfilling the non-JSA orders? They tried it with Liza, but I doubt they wanted to go down that road again.

I don’t know that’s necessarily what happened here. The decision to issue refunds doesn’t tell us what the authentication review determined. That’s up to Premiere to explain.
