I was thinking recently about the amount of fakes that are authenticated by GAI, so I went through my items and located 5 pieces authenticated by them. I looked up the corresponding number on their website (what's left of it anyway) and found that two items aren't even listed. The database shows no item exists. Two of the three items I know are legit as they were from a private Willie Mays signing a few years back and included the Say Hey authentication plus the MLB authentication. The other three I believe are bad. Two are Stan Musial 8x10's and one is Bart Starr 8x10.
What I find interesting is that you would assume that people who have legitimate authentic photo's used the GAI service. There should be a quantity that are real! But, it appears that almost everything I come across is FAKE! Did they authenticate anything real, or did they have a network set up where they had people produce known forgeries and then they authenticated them? It seems to be the latter. I wish I could remember who I bought these three from and contact them. You wouldn't think they would spend their time on Musial and Starr. Any opinions on this?

I noticed a signed Springsteen that is fake with a GA authetication Ebay #170811758351. The person originally sold it to me. It failed authentication by both Roger and PSA. I sent it back to the seller. He sent it to PSA and JSA, both failed it. He sent it to Global and they passed it! Now it's back on Ebay.
wow, then of course you have a picture with their watermark on it giving the impression of in-person!

Just another example of the market manipulation that both of them continue to pull on you folks. If you take a look at all the Springsteens on Ebay certed by PSA or go to Roger's site you most likely will see that there are 12 different signature examples and none consistent at all. This piece is genuine without a doubt. Good luck to you if you are going to continue to listen to these people that clearly have an agenda. Recognize it and believe it because it is something that is easy to see.
This guy admitted to me that he and his friends sell each other photo's of celebrities signing and even videos. They always seem to have a photo, but never of the person actually signing the actual item. Funny how that always happens. This guy was busted for selling several fake items, all music related.
Mike I agree with you. I know this is not real.
Please show us why the Springsteen is genuine without a doubt.
I dont want to start a war here, but I really am curious about the GAI, or GA story. there is no doubt that there are a very high percentage of items that carry their certs, that are bogus. Everyone that has been around this hobby knows that. But here we have someone trying to defend a signature (the Springsteen) that appears to have a high likelihood that it is fake. I am also curious as to why GAI certs are still allowed on ebay. Sorry, but its something that I just do not understand.
Steve Sipe isn't just someone. He's GA's CEO.
So let me see if I got this correct.. You had a Pujols signature that was questionable and the way GAI responds is by removing it from the data base. What a way to prove they were wrong without manning up to it.. However all of the companies make mistakes when it comes to authenticating and they make the mistakes going both ways, they will say a signature is good when it is bad and bad when it is good. It all comes down to who's "opinion" you trust that's been the case since the begining. As for the Springsteen I have gotten him about a half dozen times and they all look diff with the exception of the "B" which is usually the give away. As of the past 6-8 years Bruce has been personalizing all of the items he signs and this is almost a well know fact. The "Proof" pictures mean absolutly nothing, I have seen sellers with "Proof" pictures and if you do a Google search you will end up finding the same Proof somewhere else so 1 Proof pic is most likely being used by several others.
Harry,
The Pujols ball cert/label were very much fake. The label was pixelated and the GV and number were separated. The certificate was also a copy and the numbers were totally different font. There IS an actual ball that was certified with this certificate and yes it is still out there but under this circumstance I took this out of the database until the actual person who has the other comes forward and wonders why it was taken out.
We busted a guy in Tennessee that was a web developer that did these and until this one we had not seen anymore. The MO of the guy was to go online and see an auction then take the number and attempt to reproduce a paper label (not the same as ours) and he basically would have a blanked out copy of a certificate although very dark and never got the font correct.
No smoke and mirrors on my part but the hatred of you folks is pretty laughable to say the least. Also, regarding the Springsteen debate you all need to check yourselves and opinions. Go to Ebay and the seller presspasscollectibles and tell me how it is that your beloved PSA crew came to the conclusion that ALL the Springsteen examples in that sellers lot are genuine.
Also, you might get more people to join in your discussions (slander fests) if you all did not just beat on them every time they come onto the boards. Again, you can pick up the phone anytime of the business day and contact me but then again it seems that the friendly confines of your computer is a much safer place for you to bash people to make you feel better somehow.
Mr Stipe I will agree with you about the Pujols ball. I bashed GAI at first until I took a closer look at that sticker on the ball, at which time I came to the conclusion that it had absolutely been tampered with in some form or fashion. I have a couple of GAI items that I would like to talk to you about. How do we get in touch with you?
there are no sacred cows around this place as far as I am concerned. the problem with the phone call is then only 2 people may or may not come to agreements. there is too much of that behind the door that goes on.
the information on the pujol's ball ought to have come out long ago. One has to wonder how many others are out there.
moreso in case anyone missed it... A TPA actually removed a cert from the database. Of course that could be confused with "why hasn't it been added in" -vs- an inclusion of words - like "This Cert has been recalled" e.g.
PSA/DNA around here doesn't get a free ride - far from it. Although it's interesting that first you claim they are "in colussion" but now point to their stamped variations on Springsteen as to the rationale of why the GA Springsteen must be okay.
Transparency and discussion is what the hobby needs not necessarily phone calls.
