When did these It's a Wonderful Life SP's start selling for this kind of money?

These same SP's with JSA authentication were selling for $40 or $50 some months ago and I thought people had gotten the right idea about being skeptical. $400? Really?

The prices on these are all over the place. From $50 to hundreds as you've stated.

According to a source, someone conducted a private signing with Stewart and 1000 were signed. Allegedly a video or photos exist. A private signing explains the volume and could explain the rushed messy look they all seem to share. Concerning to me is they are all cramped and the letters smash into another. Not something you typically see with Stewart.

Until more solid proof emerges I remain cautious.

I think the problem is they all seem to share the same messy look. I'd be flabbergasted if said video actually ever turned up. To me they're forgeries.

Here is an example of a Jimmy Stewart autograph from 1947 that I am listing tonight on ebay.  It is from a collection purchased from the grand daughter of the owner of the Stork Club in NY and was signed to her mother Barbara Billingsley.  It is %100 authentic and a good example.

Nice.

Stewart's handwriting was very consistent over the years. In the secretarial exemplars I've seen, the handwriting of the dedication is not even close.

Hello everyone, I am looking to buy my first James Stewart autograph and was glad to run across this discussion.  It's had some great information, but now I'm even more concerned about buying a fake. lol.  Could you guys take a look at these and see if they look legit to you?  Thanks

I agree with Mr Zipper, those are certainly no good. Feel free to post any examples you're thinking of purchasing, there are some good deals to be had out there but also plenty of forgeries and headaches.
