Maybe not rock-metal signer, but obviously a hard signer. Tried to get Paul Simon´s autograph when he was here in Stockholm for the Polar Music Price last week. He came out from a cinema (the day before the price ceremony) after a seminar which I also attended. We were around 4-5 people outside waiting. He just said "I can´t sign" and disappeared into a waiting car. Really stupid. You are in Stockholm to collect a prize for your musical achievements, receiving over 100.000 USD in prize money and you can stop and sign for a few beople :-(
Took me five years of trying before I finally got Paul Simon to sign an album for me. Then a few years ago he did a book signing and got him again. He is tough!
I heard that Paul Simon was real tough in Stockholm. I also heard that he was impossible when he was on tour earlier this year in Stockholm.
I think I have told the story before, but when Paul Simon was in Stockholm in the early 00s I was able to meet him. He wanted to see everything that I had before he deceided to sign for me. So at that time he signed 9 albums including a Simon and Garfunkel that was already signed by Art Garfunkel. You can see that album on my home page.
Haven't tried Billy Corgan since 1994, so I don't know how hard he is today.
Billy Corgan is almost impossible. Only under special circumstances, like a book signing or album promotional event.
Gene Simmons can also be tough sometimes. Have met him several times, but the last time he refused to sign. The reason was it will end up on Ebay, he said. Like I would sell a picture of him and me on Ebay! It really pissed me off as I knew he had signed a lot of autographs the day before. Maybe he was just not in the mood?
Iknow you said Gene is tough now, but how about Paul Stanley? Is there any way to get him other than the outragously priced backstage meet and greets when KISS is on tour? They are playing near here nest week and I have some stuff that I just need Paul on. Any chance at the airport? Or after the show at the venue?
Paul absolutely will not sign at his art showings unless you have purchased a print from him and are one of the guests in the studio these are usually at a mall and there are usually a few hundred people outside of the store usually held back by some sort of security he will sometimes go out and say hello but Flatley refuses to sign in those situations other than that Paul Stanley is usually quite a gentleman
I had Billy's new members sign a drumhead for me right in front of him. Then I asked him to sign it and he said I don't sign musical instruments. I asked if he would personalize it to me and he refused. I wasn't rude or annoying, and I had no other items with me. Just trying to get something nice for my collection. Really not a nice guy.
Plus Billy Corgan was recently selling his autograph on ebay recently. Stage used guitars that he would personalize. Posters that were personalized. Prices were outrageous. He must need the money.
I've had good experiences with him, he's been super nice when I've met him. But for some weird reason he just won't sign anything. He's definitely different.
Fogerty doesn't even look at you anymore. He has done a complete 360 from 2000 when I met him. Super nice guy then.
