$550 for a personalized  "To Hudson" Don Mattingly ball? Is this real life?

Unless that inscription is referencing something I'm unfamiliar with (i.e. some sort of "inside joke"), that is incredibly stupid.

Then again, isn't Mattingly like a $60 autograph? Even the $250 for the unpersonalized example is insane.

You can get a PSA/DNA or JSA certified Mattingly sweet spot for $60-$100 all day. I would never pay Steiner prices for anything, they are beyond ridiculous on most items. But, that is the price some are willing to pay for guaranteed authenticity... (Unless this Giants scandal screws them.)

Imagine, you could buy an Upper Deck snow white Mickey Mantle sweet spot for $550... OR... A side paneled "To Hudson" Mattingly ball... LOL.

The price on sports items is typically so absurd that I've mostly lost interest.

I think the Mattingly inscribed ball was part of their $99 sale, so at least that's a little better.

Not sure if you guys knew, but that $550 ball has a silver bar under it and is shipped wrapped in gold leaf.
