STUDY: Jerry Lee Lewis - TTM real or not real

Steve asked me to start a new thread since some were having a lot of issues with regards to whether or not the through the mail autographs of Jerry Lee Lewis are real or not.  I will post some examples of what we have been getting recently and some know in person examples.   These TTM signatures are not cheap.  You have to pay $50 for them to his box office box.  The question is are they real or not.  Roger has said that he has never seen Mr. Lewis sign this way and it looks to perfect - like a woman's signature.  

Please post your thoughts here and examples.

Steve, I agree with you totally. If and when I get my pictures back unsigned with that note, I will respectfully write them back and ask again with the promise of legal action in the future. That's my plan anyway.

I guess you don't believe that the photo sold on eBay was actually signed in person.

Hi everyone -

I've been reading this helpful thread for months now. I found it literally the day after I finally got around to mailing Jerry Lee Lewis an album to be signed to go with my signed LPs of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Little Richard. I got those in person, but failed to get Jerry the last time he was in Chicago in, I believe, 2011.

In any case, I mailed the album on March 28 with $20 and it was returned April 7 unsigned with a note, undoubtedly written by Judith, saying the fee was now $50 with (to answer my letter insisting that only Jerry sign the album) an assurance that Jerry reads and signs "all" of his requests.

I mailed the album again with $50 and my returned letter with a short, polite note added on April 7. I received the album back on April 14 with the pictured autograph. It's much like the one A.B. received that can be found on page 19 of this thread. Mine, really, is a mess. It looks like Judith signed the personalization (although my original letter requested nobody but Jerry write on the album) and then Jerry signed his name. except for two things. 1) As can be seen with the autograph A.B. received, both the "To Dave" personalization and the start of "Jerry" were initially written in ballpoint pen before traced over in marker. 2) The marker did not work so well when Jerry signed his name. It looks like the cap may have been off the marker for a bit before Jerry used it.

Add everything up and the autograph is a mess. I'm not happy at all that's what I received for $50, especially considering it's on an original Sun LP. I'm now out the cost of the album, the postage to send the album there and back twice, and of course the $50. I want to frame the album to hang with the others, but I don't want to spend the money to frame such a half-baked autograph.

I have since bought another copy of the album and was about to send it in with a letter and no money hoping that I could get a good signature, but at this point that sounds like it would be fruitless. As much as I don't want to do it, I'd like to be able to send $100 this time and just get a good autograph and be done with it, but even that doesn't sound like it would guarantee a good result. (And would I send it to Judith with a letter explaining things or just send it to Jerry and cross my fingers?) By now, like many of you, I feel like I've spent far too much time on this with no satisfaction yet.

I wonder what the deal is with the whole writing in pen on the item first, and then tracing over it. Thats a detractor in itself to me

That variation of "r" seems to have resurfaced again in "Sincerely".

It looks like JLL signed the whole thing, including the inscription. It’s unfortunate that there was a problem with the pen. I would think he would be willing to sign the other LP considering that you’re not questioning the authenticity of the signature.

Please take another look at the "To Dave," Ballroom. It doesn't appear to me to be in the same hand as Sincerely, JLL.

It's JLL, in my opinion. The "To" portion of the inscription really gives it away.
