I WAS JUST LOOKING FOR AN AUTOGRAPH BY DAVID CROSBY {OF THE BAND CROSBY,STILLS & NASH} AND I WAS ABLE TO FIND SOME AUTOGRAPHS BY HIM, BUT NOT AS MANY AS THE OTHER 2 GUYS IN THE BAND. ALSO I WAS INTERESTED IN GETTING AN AUTOGRAPH BY BOB SEGER - BUT THAT ONE SEEMS EVEN MORE OUT OF REACH THAN CROSBY'S! ===> DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY THEY DON'T LIKE TO SIGN?

I asked Crosby two years ago why he wouldn't sign. He said because people sell them. His tour manager told me Crosby barely signs for him. So there are a lot of forgeries. CSN sometimes sells signed tour posters, and Crosby signed lots of copies of his books, which sometimes are for sale on eBay, or book dealers on A.B.E. Check with Roger Epperson before you buy anything.
Don't know about Seger. BTW turn off your caps lock.
OOOPS!!...I mean ooops! LOL..sorry about that - wasn't intentional - and thanks for the quick reply, and I think that the fans of these celebrities want to collect mementos and souvenirs and that Crosby should understand this (esp. as long as he has been in the business), that people love collecting and displaying these treasures!
Different celebrities have different philosophies about it. Some don't mind signing away early on in their careers then get frustrated by the number of non-fan sellers that crash the groups of autograph seekers as their popularity grows. I can see an old legend like Crosby being jaded and cynical about autograph signing at this point. Some continue to be good signers even when they hit superstardom. Always interesting to see who likes to sign, who doesn't, whose signature has gotten worse as they sign more, etc.
Seger is nearly impossible anymore. He is just grouchy about signing autographs for some reason
Crosby is horrible. Has been for years. i have 3 unfinished CSN pieces because he just wont sign. I guess the peace & love era of the 60's didnt last very long with him. On the other end, some from that time are so nice. Just met Gordon Lightfoot, and he had no problem signing several items for me, including my guitar. Wonderful experience.
Some celebrities make it difficult to acquire their autograph because it makes them feel important. Why does David Crosby care about what someone does with his autograph? Give me a break. Fans should stop asking him for one if they would truly like to see a change in his autograph signing habits.
Ebay has ruined it a lot even though the younger generation could care less about David Crosby and Bob Seger. CSN is playing in Orlando in a couple of weeks and I have already been told that Stephen Stills and Graham Nash would not be the impossible autograph to get by the few I hang around with and who have tried in the past for these music legends it's Crosby who will be the impossible scribble and I was told not even to count on it that it's not going to happen and to not look for it to happen so I'm not. Seger headlined an outdoor festival here a couple of years ago and I was told that Seger doesn't sign and that he was old, bitter, and jaded so I didn't even try even though I am a fan of his music. There are some celebrities who'll sign but will limit it to one or two believing that one or two you are a fan three or more you're an ebayer. I have ran across quite a few who tell me that rule recently.
I wrote a story about this, called "David Crosby Flipped me the Bird." Steve...can you post it here? Anyway, it's not just the autographs Crosby is nuts about. He's just not right in the head. I know somebody whose dad was his pilot. They were friends forever, and Crosby just started accusing him of all this weird stuff. They were at each others weddings, and finally...the guy just had to stop hanging with David. He thinks he has mental issues.
I purchased a David Crosby Autograph ---> cut and slabbed and psa/dna verified (and I called and checked it out on the phone too with psa/dna) - An Autograph Collector told me I was "lucky' to get it because he NEVER does sign...and I purchased this for around $125 on E Bay....
September 2005 issue of AUTOGRAPH Magazine was when that article was written, I don't have a copy of it though Josh.
AND are these autographs from people from OUR generation (I'm 54 yrs old ---> I'm talking the Baby Boomer generation ) like Bob Seger,Clapton,David Crosby,James Taylor,The Eagles (for ex.)..Are their autographs NOT really going to be collectible (in the future) to this new generation coming up now ? I was wondering this myself..I mean I think some of the mega artists will surely hold their value like Elvis,The Beatles,Michael Jackson since they are such Icons but what is your take on this Everybody ?
Susan, I have no interest in any of those music autographs and I am the next generation after yours. None of those artists have any appeal in American popular culture. If they did, they would be in United States history textbooks along with the other artists that you mentioned. That was my original point about David Crosby. He seems to think much too highly of himself.
