Ditto.

The ball is beautifully signed by The Mick.

The sig on the photo is a forgery.

Fudd, the one time Lowly Mantle Collector, agrees with my contemporaries..

Yes on the Ball, NO on the Photo

Fudd, here is a closer look on the signature. Can you tell me what makes this signature a forgery? Is it the flow, spacing etc. just want need your expert opinion. Thanks

Poorly-executed (although we've seen much, mush worse) forgery.

Forgeries are meant to have the appearance of looking authentic.  Unless you have a trained eye, it is difficult to explain.

I appreciate your expertise Chris. I am bummed, i hesitated on sending this to Psa because i know it will never leave my sports room for years. Can i have you look at my Dimaggio photo? Lmk. Thanks

Feel free to post your Joe. D.

That's what we are here for; to help.

Chris, here is my Joe D.

I'm not sure on the joe d either. To me it looks slightly off in letter formation. Its so hard to get bad news on personal items. I have a john lennon as well that got the thumbs down. At the time I purchased it my eye wasn't as trained.

Well first off, I HATE the M.i.c.k.e.y.

The formation of the M is just WAY off. The i is way too high. The c, is just horrible and I don't like where the k hooks over the top of the e. the hook usually will line up with the up ticked y, not curl over the e. (99% of the time).

The M in Mantle isn't terrible, but the flick up to the a is forced and blotched, I prefer a point on the n. The forger tried to to get the spacing and angles right on the tle, but failed. I won't even get into the baseline issues I have. IMHO, it's a forgery.

With-out going into anymore details (That should be plenty to digest) It gets 0/10 on my 10 point system in things I used to look for when I was collecting Mantle.

I'm really not willing to share my 10 point system, so don't ask. Keep looking for yourself and when you have 3,000 hours looking at Mantle's  autograph like I do (LOL), you'll be able to tell in a blink!!!!GOOD LUCK!

I like the ball, unsure of the photo. I've seen similar silver sharpie/pen on unique photos before, but this one doesn't look solid.

My father owns a mickey mantle autographed baseball Although id have to give that a closer look also it came from a shopping network and I've heard some bad things about that. But I'm not sure if it matters but it came from one of the times he was right there on the tv. I wish i had a picture but I'll look at it one of these days! I do own 4 mantle cards a 53 bowman, 57 topps, 58 topps and 59 topps.

Heath, I've exposed hundreds of Mantle forgeries from the Home Shopping Networks,

Below is a link to one.
