I'm just going to throw this out there for what it's worth. Probably not much. I have a copy of "THE BABE BOOK". It's a hardback book about the life and story of Babe Ruth. In the last couple of years of Babe's life, as he was dying from cancer, he was in and out of the hospital. While in the hospital, he received many letters from fans expressing their admiration and hopes for a turn-around. Of course, they also requested autographs.
Babe would reply to these requests with an autograph signed while in his hospital bed. What you have here appears to be one of those letters. In the book I have, there is a picture of an autographed Ruth baseball thought to have been the last one he ever signed. It is said to be authentic, signed while the cancer was eating away at him. The autograph you present here matches very closely with the autograph on said ball.
Ruth is quoted in the book as saying that while other people helped him reply to all the mail, NO ONE signed his name other than himself while in the hospital. He said that was the one thing he would not allow. No one could sign his name but him, and that the autographs coming from his hospital bed were his own. This is straight out of that book.
I AGREE that this does not look like your typical Ruth autograph, but perhaps the illness had an affect on his penmanship. I thought that was interesting when I read that. So I thought I'd pass it along.

if his penmanship was affected by his illness,it would likely have been a shakier, slower version of his typical style. the Ruth in the subject here is not authentic.
