I like to believe I have a keen eye for authentic mantles. What are your thoughts?

the photo is good. not sure about the ball. personally, I do not like it, but it could be authentic, just a lousy example

I like both.

Both authentic IMO.

Thanks for the input guys. The seller told me that the baseball came from Hines Rootbeer promotion, he even gave me the original advertisement. $170 shipped.

The photo I found randomly. $90. Thought that was a steal, especially with the NO. 7 inscription.

Both no question authentic. Great prices, I have that same photo signed nice and bold. No "No. 7" on mine tho!

I sold the ball in the first picture, and the buyer wants to return. He is telling me that he sent a picture to an authenticator, and they are telling him it is a facsimile/screen print. I'm sorry, I've been duped with facsimile/screen print before and this is not one. Does anyone here get the impression it is? To me it's just a cheap ball, a bad pen, and 20 years old.

No, it has bleeding/shadowing around the letters.

It is an authentic autograph, not a stamp or facsimile.

The halo-ing would indicate to me it is live ink and not a some sort of print.

Perhaps it is a case of buyer's remorse. Did he produce the letter from the authenticator?

This is why alot of eBay sellers require a reject letter from PSA/DNA or JSA only. This sounds like he showed it to his neighbor Bill the "authenticator" who thought it looked cheap and maybe fake. You just sold it last week, there is no way he sent it to any reputable authentication company. If he's willing to pay the shipping back, I would probably just refund him and resell.

Yeah... it's not worth the battle you will likely lose with Paypal/eBay even if you are technically correct. Refund it and move on.

It looks authentic to me. You can see the darker spots in a few areas. If this was screen printed, you wouldn't see that.
