I know.. I know.. just didn't want to spend the money...
I just looked and PSA charges $50 and JSA is at least $30 to authenticate Jerry Lee Lewis. I can understand not wanting to spend all that money.
I thought you Jerry Lee guys might like this one. It is an in-person on a funny item with an interesting story. It also shows another example of "Sincerely" as well as a y with a straight down stroke only as seen in the books. Sold for $320 which I think includes BP.
A National Enquirer article stating "Why I didn't have sex with Lisa Marie Presley" signed by Jerry Lee Lewis. Scott Mathews met with Lewis backstage and asked Lewis for an autograph, handing him this paper. After Lewis read the article, he proudly pronounced, "The hell I didn't!" and boldly signed it in black Sharpie.

Here is another example with additional writing from the Killer. This is valuable when discussing inscriptions.
The Presley paper sig is similar to the books.
There are important differences.
Chief among them may be that the "J" is written in a completely different manner. In the book it flows into the rest of the first name. In the Presley paper sig it seems to have been made by itself. The pen then seems to have been lifted and the rest of the first name written.
All of the book signatures that I've seen have the "J" written by itself. It doesn't flow into the rest of the first name.
Its just that although signed very fast I see similarities in the letter formations. Im posting my book that I held onto. The Ebay seller thought I was nuts because I had to fight to get them to agree to take it back and then out of the blue I told them I was keeping it.
Bear in mind, the newspaper has the bottom of the J sweeping up above the "erry."
For the books, to date, EVERY book shown here has a J that does not sweep over the "erry."
In ALMOST EVERY book, the y shoots straight down and ends. In most agreed upon authentic examples, it goes back up and often connects to the L in Lee.
I think there is room for debate on the photos. In my opinion, given what we have seen from recent JLL TTM autographs, it strains reality to think he signed 750 books, each and every one with a highly consistent, small and "neat" signature that all appear to have traits not consistent with the vast majority of autographs he signs.
You guys can pick and choose examples here and there to justify the book signatures, but you are missing the overwhelming pattern of atypical traits and the complete lack of consistency with what comes back TTM. Small, tight and consistent versus loose, wild and completely inconsistent. It's like not seeing the forest through the trees, IMO.
I also mentioned it way back it doesn't seem possible all the books could be signed so uniformly but this is a fun read.
I disagree that they are highly consistent signatures. They vary from nice, neat examples to rushed, abbreviated ones. Some of the "Y"s shoot straight down and stop, while others break with an upstroke to either the left or right. I made a list of various consistencies between the book signatures and previous JLL signatures. What is telling is that those characteristics aren't contained within each signature, but are mixed in among the group of book signatures that we've seen so far.
