These names were for a Yahoo! report that I passed on after I saw they also contacted someone at Autograph Planet about it. But it's an interesting subject. A lot of current names are worth tons more than I thougth they were.

I think that's because that's what the current collector knows! They know Scarlett like you stated...the people that are in all the movies are more in demand than say idk someone from the 90's not doing movies anymore..their doing commercials or something low tier!

I'd like to know about the Jaimie Foxx and Lauren Bacall! I've got Tom selleck on a baseball! But think a lot of people do so he's probably not that much! I'm trying to think of some others that I have.

Jack Nicholson has to rate up there.  True Hollywood legend.  I cant see Scar Jo being worth more than ole Jack, can she?  She has done 2 plays on Broadway and I have gotten her twice so, there are autographs out there, especially on play stuff.  But she isnt easy, I agree.  She snuck out a lot at her last play.

Only times I ever got here were her broadway shows. She signs a few of the first days then starts ghosting. One day she signed playbills and ignored everything else. She's a pretty tough signature no question.

Yup u gotta go early, like the first week or 2. but then later, a playbill is better than nothing!

Denzel didnt even sign playbills his last 2 plays!  He has gotten near impossible.  I would also imagine Sean Connery to be quite valuable now as well.

Most collectors under 40 and dirty old men like me would pay more for Scarlett than Jack.

The question is does it make sense to pay huge bucks for the signature of a young celebrity who could be yesterday's news in 10 years and/or may wake up someday and start signing generously?

Not that I am being critical of the choice to collect any individual, but it just seems extremely risky and probably a poor investment to pay $500+ for a young celebrity.

Let's see... Scarlett Johansson scribble on a photo or a card signed by U.S. Grant?

It's all about keeping the expenditures in balance.......If you balance the risk, it works. I have between 50-60 Scarletts in my little hoard. Taking into account the time and money spent pulling that batch together, and deducting the 30-40 that I have sold over the last 5-10 years, I don't have all that much invested.

Aside from the beauty that is Grant on a $50 bill, I would really rather have my Scarlett pieces.

I understand where you are coming from, as I have similar hoards of Carrie Fisher, Evangeline Lilly,  Kiera Knightley, Jessica Alba, Kristen Bell, Sarah Michelle Geller, Jennifer Lawrence, Summer Glau, Megan Fox, Natalie Portman and Milla Jovovich. As their fame diminishes in the public's eye, sure they become a bit tougher to sell. The good news is that if they do chill out and begin signing more, 9 times out of 10 they do so with a substandard "initials only" or heavily trunicated signature, which rarely compares to the older samples.         

People will always collect presidents, but I think a similar number of different people will always like signed photos of beautiful women, even if these women never get to Legend status.
