I'd appreciate a referral to a company or person that could authenticate & appraise Kurt Cobain's signature. Since I'd like to sell it, any advise on how to do that or who to contact would be helpful.

I agree with Mike T and Xwiesy. Send it to PSA. Good luck Linda.
As seems to be the consensus, I'll send it to PSA since I'd like to have written LOA in order to sell it. BTW, I genuinely appreciate the great advise I've received from all on this site. Thanks you very much, Linda
Post an image of the autograph here first Linda. If it is an obvious forgery you will find out for sure and you can also save some money.
Id post it here first to give you a better idea if it would pass psa before spending the 300 bucks or so on there opinion. The people here will give you an idea of if it's real or not before sending it to psa
Hello Steven, I liked your suggestion to post it here, & added 3 photos to my album. I'm not sure I've added the photos properly, so let me know if I've goofed. Looking forward to hearing from you & others, Linda
could be good, can you tell if it's a paint pen or sharpie that signed it? it's not as bad as other's ive seen Jeremiah would be the best to look at this.
I've never compared paint pens to sharpies, but the lines don't look like those made by a sharpie because the ink is deposited unevenly with more ink on one edge of the lines. The color of the pen looks white or silver. Of additional interest, it's clearly visible that the "a" in "beggar" on the inscription to Lance has a smudge under it where an "e" must have been written then erased to change it to an "a". The smeared or smudged out ink is noticeable on the finish of the guitar because the other areas are shinny. Also, it looks like the date & time were written after the signature because it appears the pen was running out of ink. The numbers in the date were written twice so they were more visible, whereas the "/" between the month / day / year are very light. To me, it seems like Kurt could have been prodded into dating the signature because he goes to the extra length to add the time of day at 2PM. Lastly, there appears to be 3 finger prints (or maybe just smudge marks) on the face of the guitar - one by the "a" in "beggar" & 2 by the date near the edge of the guitar face.
I couldn't find contact for Lance Bangs on his website, but he does have a Twitter account @Lance bangs. You could try tweeting him to see if he owned it. Just a suggestion.
