I have bought autograph's which I have no idea how to frame yet. How long can I leave them out? I keep them in a drawer, protected, but I know I can't keep them like that forever. Is there a better way to keep them from fading etc. for a while until I can frame them?

Thanks

At least i know where to buy some covers and top loaders.
Does pvc damage autographs?
I use Japanese mylar record sleeves from ElusiveDisc.com.
Gaylord Archival has sleeves for lp's
Generally speaking, softer, cloudy sleeves have more harmful acids. Crystal clear and stiffer sleeves are typically better.

Cheap junk is cloudy; the best stuff, Mylar, is crystal clear.

Old school rigid top loaders are the worst. I've seen signatures adhere to the inside and peel right off the photo. They may be good for shipping safely, but not for long term storage.
Ive gone to the lengths of framing my autographs in an acid free environment, uv glass but now i could have stuck them in pvc top loaders. Why do i bother.

Do you have any photo of those old school rigid top loaders, Steve?

I just ordered some pvc free top loaders, just in case ill change them over.

he Bcw supplies want 86 us dollars for shipping to Australia for a pack of 8x10 top loaders. They should offer a standard option.

Paul, you should try and locate a collectibles shop in Australia, I am guessing there has to be some sort of comic shop (or the like) that can get these for you within Australia.

Thanks for the tip, i know where there is a comic shop.
Id like to think most of the top loaders would be pvc free these days, after collectors would be buying pvc free.
Thumb tacts and a cork board, old school style maybe the way to go.

I store my 8x10s in archival mylar sleeves, and place the photo and sleeve in a larger top loader.

Id like to know what the companies are encapsulating the cards and paper cuts in.

PSA DNA and now JSA thru Beckett are well versed in the horrors of PVC. There is no way that they would put anything in PVC. I am sure they are using the best archival material (within cost reason) available to the knowledge of the hobby.
