eBay seller lock-em-up-bob continues to sell awful home-made forgeries on eBay. Over 5,000+ junk forgeries scribbled on cheap base cards from the 80s.

Back in March, lock-em-up-bob was starting to say this was his "Final go around", and had the following (hilarious) description in his auctions, this is from one of many, many Don Mattingly forgeries he has sold:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DON-MATTINGLY-autograph-1992-TOPPS-set-sign...

"I JUST WANTED TO THANK EVERYONE WHO OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS THAT HAVE WON MANY OF MY AUCTIONS... I WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT THIS WILL BE MY "LAST" GO ROUND PER-SET WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS... WHATEVER IS LEFT OVER AT THE END WILL BE SOLD IN GIANT LOTS.. AGAIN THANK YOU TO EVERYONE, HAPPY COLLECTING"

Aka: "Thank you for making me rich off of scribbling on all my old 80's base cards from the Junk Era"

Here we are 2 months later, and due to greed, (and how easy it is to commit fraud on eBay), lock-em-up-bob continues to sell forgeries. Here is yet another Don Mattingly forgery (which he is trying to adapt, and it's still bad), but take a look at the new descriptions:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DON-MATTINGLY-autograph-1986-TOPPS-set-sign...

Here is the current description:

"I WAS HOPING TO BE DONE BUT I'M LEFT WITH AROUND 1,500 MORE CARDS THAT DID'T SELL OR WERE NOT PAID FOR... SO I'M DOING ONE FINAL ROUND PER SET ONE NIGHT ONLY AND WILL NOT BE RELISTING ANY CARDS FROM HERE ON IN... WHATEVER DOES NOT SELL THIS TIME WILL BE SOLD IN A LOT."

AKA: "I have 1,500 more worthless base cards laying around, so I might as well scribble on them and sell them to you morons and make even more free money."

Absolutely sickening that eBay has allowed this master forger to survive for so long. These people should be in prison.

This is sickening...

What I don't understand is how can a forger survive on a venue like ebay and why is condoned?  Ebay will try and look like they care and refund you but the question remains the same.

That really is disgusting Ryan!!!

Ebay makes it really easy to sell forgeries on Ebay!!!!

Not only does eBay allow these acts of FRAUD, they condone it by promoting forgery sellers and giving them a nice worry-free platform to scam the absolute hell out of people for YEARS

It is absolutely sickening.

+1

Guess eBay seller lock-em-up-bob still had some more base cards to scribble on, I like how he added this to his descriptions: "I'am not a pro dealer so there is no COA".

More Don Mattingly forgeries:

Lock-em-up-bob has now moved on to Jeter (the first time!) and Sandy Koufax signed balls (where "Sandy" messed up the date of his perfect game.

His Corky from Life Goes On look-a-like brother, Samsobo, meanwhile, has taken to forging vintage, like this 1957 Topps Bill Mazeroski.  I blame eBay for these fraudstars; all three have made a small fortune off the fakes these two clowns sell.

Its 2021 and he is still going strong.  He should be in the HALL of Fame of Ebay forgers.  Ebay has been informed directly that he is a forger and they have done nothing about it.   They reached out to some respected dealers to ask about the problem sellers and he was named and nothing was done.

I'm glad I found this thread because I bought a Ozzie Virgil signed card from "Samsobo" on ebay a few years back and when I received it I questioned it's authenticity. I replied to "Samsobo" about my concerns and he got extremely defensive and rude. His reaction was a huge red flag but I let it be since the autograph card was relatively inexpensive. Needless to say that Ozzie Virgil card will see the shredder and won't hurt anyone ever again.

He relies on the "who would fake an Ozzie Virgil?"  The answer is he would.   I'll bet he does 10 at the same time.  He builds up an inventory and then just sells them over time.  He is patient and calculating.   He has escalated into Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and even sold at Clemente for $580 recently.   Also I have real doubts and the two brothers are still involved.  I believe its the same person that runs both accounts.

If we got everyone that is aware of Lock Em Up Bob to flag his auctions in a small period of time they might do something.   It would take a coordinated effort.

I'm going to post a list of the greatest current ebay forging businesses in the next few days.
