Does anyone have an educated opinion about whether this George W. Bush photo is hand signed or autopen? Does it look like the stroke has some speed? The photo is from 2005 when Pres. Bush spoke to S.C. legislators. I have not been able to find a matching autopen in my database. Thanks!See More

Tell us more about your collection, specific areas of interest, etc.:
I have at least one autograph of each U.S. President. I have learned a lot about autopen, secretarial, printed, and stamped signatures over the years. I have created a Presidential autopen database from books and internet sources.
What is your level of expertise?
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
My favorite is a James Buchanan pardon of a former slave, Emmanuel Mason. Mason's wife was still a slave, so their children were slaves. Mason was charged with harboring a slave when authorities came to get his son to deliver to the master. The boy ran away, and Emmanuel could not produce him. This story made the newspapers and created an uproar from citizens who opposed slavery.
Why do you collect?
I prefer signed documents and letters that have stories behind them. I enjoy researching the stories and putting them into historical context. I learn history "inside out."
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
