Do old music adverts need to be authenticated?
Hi, this might seem like a really weird, but I’m a avid big The Doors fan and collector, and I was wondering out of curiosity- should I get some my The Doors era adverts authenticated if I was to sell them? because look at this picture, it’s a advert for one of their first concerts in 1966 and their second last concert in 1970 (I am only 26 by the way so these are way older than I lol) :) I might have a little issue trying prove a background like who had them before me and where they exactly come from as I usually bought advert lots in lot off eBay :) so should I get some of these authenticated ? do they really need to be authenicated ? I know having legitimate authenticity might help prove its real but What should I say or Who should I talk to? as I’ve got about over 50 from The Doors era itself :) sorry :(

okay here is a promo poster I've got, I brought it from the person who owned it since day one and now I'm the second owner (this is a Google image by the way)- should I get this authenticated? I've also got the 16mm to it also, who or how can I prove it is real? as the person I got it from has passed away a few years ago and forgot about asking for a coa :)

I don't know much about posters but it would seem to me this particular one has some good potential value. Is your intent to sell it? If so, are you thinking about selling it on your own or consigning it to an auction house?

I'm not never going sell my stuff, I should but I can't name a price, I've got about 1500 The Doors items, from various books and prints, over 200 33s (record lps), etc etc

so I know what it could be maybe worth, as I said like that advert above, as much I'd be happy sell it for the same price but whom would buy it, and as mentioned, it's hard to come by adverts prior to a concert, like the one on the left for 1966, I've never seen one for sale :) sorry

If you Google your Doors poster there is a link to Worthpoint which shows this poster was sold at some point. I believe they offer a free trial which will give you access to the selling price. You can find out what it sold for and then cancel your free trial.
I'm not sure you need to have something authenticated and/or graded to sell it for a fair price. When it comes to selling collectibles I have learned one thing. Price it for what you are willing to sell it for. Be patient. It sometimes takes a while to get at or near your price but if it's a good item someone will want it.

theres only one official compamy that certifies posters and yours doesn't qualify they only do certain types and they sux .at it.

I have jim morrisions 68 elextra records promo poster its only worth a few 100. only doors concert posters are worth real money and not all of them. the adverts are junk its scrap book collection sorry to say.
u can real doors concert handbills all do long for 100$

Everything is relative. To some a couple of hundred bucks seems trivial. To others that is a lot of money for a poster. If I own 500 items that would sell for $20 a piece of average that adds up to 10 grand. Sounds like good money to me especially if its just sitting around.
