Hi there,
Hope I might be able to get some advice.
I am interested to find out what this Album with Bob Dylan's signature would be valued at in todays prices?
Just to provide some provenance I actually worked at Columbia Records in Sydney (CBS) from 1985 til the early 90's and obtained this album while I was working there.
I was head of the promotions team.
Bob Dylan toured Australia in February 1986 and signed a number of copies on this tour while Bob was in Sydney.
Ive had the album ever since.
The vinyl incidentally has never been anywhere near a turntable so it's unplayed!
Anyway, I am very interested to get any feedback or comments after reading particularly on this site that a genuine Dylan signature on an album is a rarity.
Cheers.

Hey Jim,
Now thats a good question and one Im not 100% sure I can answer.
I can say however that I feel that the signed copy I have of Biography is really authentic in the sense that the album was released in 1985 and Bob signed it around the time it was released as opposed to Bob to signing a 60's cover in 1995 - you know what I mean?
Cheers.
Yes, a vintage signed LP would be best. But, and this could be open for anyone to respond, If you had all of his LP's in front of you and Bob said, I will sign only 1 for you. Which one would you choose?
Have you seen the final price of the latest Dylan signed LP from RR Auction, which also came from Jeff Rosen?
No...just looked. It sold for $19,656. It's "Blood on the Tracks," which makes a big difference.
I would choose ParkersBand's over that one any day. His was signed when the album came out, and it's a far superior signature, size, and placement.
ParkersBand, to give you an idea of how the auction works, RR charges a 25% commission to the buyer, and typically a 15% commission to the consignor. So if this sold for $19,656 with the 25% buyer's premium, it hammered for about $15,750. That would net the consignor about $13,387 if he paid their typical 15% seller's commission.
Nate has a signed “Blood on the Tracks”, but it isn’t quite as nice as the one from RR.
Is there a link to this sale available?
You have to have an account to see the images in the Past Auctions database.
No worries.
Thanks for letting me know.
Thanks Steve.
Great to know how the auction process works.
What are your thoughts about selling on eBay for a fixed price?
Rather than letting an auction company handle the sale?
ParkersBand,
I would not put it on eBay. It could work against you, and you won't need to in order to find a good buyer. There are dealers and auction houses with reputations for getting top Dylan prices.
The right auction can sometimes get you prices that could net you more after commissions than you could get yourself.
Thanks Steve.
Out of interest which auction companies would you recommend if in the future I considered selling?
