I bought a Mickey Mantle autographed framed photo and I submitted to PSA for an opinion. To my surprise the item was determined as "Not Likely Genuine", so I began researching the company that certified the item. The COA accompanying the item I believe was certifying that the item was a genuine art piece from their gallery rather then being a genuine Mickey Mantle autographed item. Is the COA deceiving in how its stated? Did PSA get it right? Or was my opinion wrong thinking the item was authentic? I returned the item for a full refund but the conclusion is that a collector can never do too much research towards protecting their hard earned money while purchasing/collecting genuine autographs.

I do not know anything about the COA. The photo is small, but from what I can see, I believe PSA made the right call.

there are some very reliable as PSA...jsa (who was with PSA and he quit for some reason and used his name to start his own, steiner but their prices on pieces in out of this world...but you are right--we cant do enough researching and asking on venues like here. there not many that would have a group helping with identifying the goods/bads/uglies..LOL

I am new and have posted a wicked amount of stories and photos and am glad that some have read it and acknowledge it.

Purchase the autograph, not the "COA."
