Opinions on Oakley, Sitting Bull denied from PSA
Hello,
I was really hoping for some perspective on these 3 autographs of Sitting Bull, Buffalo Bill, and Annie Oakley. They have been in my family and passed down through the years. I sent them in to get encapsulated through PSA, but they denied it, Actually they have denied everything over the last 2 months I have sent them (even one I had a pic of them signing the item). Usually I buy off e-bay (85% of the time trusted sellers ) heritage or wherever after taking a close look and sending them in to get authenticated through BSA, PSA, or JSA. If they get denied I go through the refund route, however this is differnet as they have been in my family for maybe since they were signed 120 years ago (still tracking it down with my father) I feel like since I sent some junk in during the past it's why I got denied and would love opions on his. If you ever send stuff in and it not authenticated do you get black listed in a way ?

Wanted to add one more thing. I have the original program from the show and he had the ticket at one point but can't find it anymore. My father has loved western stuff forever.
Lastly there was a person on here recomending his service for $12, but these people were not on the list. Who was that person ?

At first glance they look overcooked. The wear patterns do not look natural - especially on the Reverse. I've asked to see the accompanying brochure and how they were stored.

Let me track down all the info with the ticket. Unfortunatly I wanted to go visit my father and ask a bunch more questions, but I have been sick and he never picks up the phone. I know for a fact my Grandfather had these and he has been gone for 20+ years. I belive my great great grandfather went to the show and bought these at the souveneir shop in early 1900's. I also have Annie Oakley and Geronimo cabinet card photos that are original.

Why are they dated 1884 then?

The level of wear and rather prominent age tone/browning with 12 sharp corners is odd.

I agree I thought it was a little off and they were stored with baseball cards from the 1950's. There was some Mantle, Aaron and other cards that I did get authenticated. There were about 350 Topps cards from 53-56 along with comics ect from the 50's when he was a child. Looking at the signatures the Sitting Bull seems wide in some areas also B looks big, but I don't have a ton to look at. The Annie Oakley looks pretty good except the weird slant of the A at the start.

With all those rubber stamps they should be a known quantity if real. There must be many more like them if they were legitimate souvenirs sold at the shows.
I agree that the vastly different toning/wear patterns for three items supposedly obtained together is a little odd.
I am not sure I am in love with the font style on the rubber stamps, especially the general manager one. I could see them being fantasy pieces.
But that's just my first impression of them.

I'd suggest a Google of this phrase:
"buffalo bill cody souvenir wild west show autograph".
There seem to have been many of these in this style sold over the years and you can see some photos of them in the 'images' section of the Google results. A different word combo may possibly produce even more exemplars.
Here's one description from an auction house in Florida:
"Sitting Bull Autograph on a Buffalo Bill Cody Wild West Show Souvenir Card. The measures 3.5 inches by 2.75 inches. There is no fraying or folds. Very good condition. Believed a remake homage piece."
***** I'm really not offering an opinion, just some info. If you want the name of a very honest and reputable dealer who has a specialty in American history, PM me. They might be a good resource to help you figure what you have.

That is where I left off. The presentation of these is very poor and they all bear and share the same ridiculous wear patterns. Some have been sold as authentic. :(
