Thank you but it was something at Gotta Have It. Not necessarily Beatles.
Gotta Have It uses Caiazzo for Beatles often. Why would they not get his LOA for this one—it would have probably added 20% to the price they got. GHI does not sell things cheaply. About $15,000 with buyers premium is quite low for this. Especially with the quality of autographs—and unpersonalized.
George's last name and the Paul McCartney appear signed on the same angle. The Ringo, John and perhaps George's first name appear on another.
There is nothing like a good old fashioned in hand examination...especially in today's digital world! :-)
FWIW, the "puddles" (concentrations) of ink are common with ballpoint pens. Ink gathers around/above the point and can be deposited on the surface periodically.
(The same goes for modern gel pens).
Agreed, they definitely do. The George and John seem to have done it in the same way, at least to my old eyes.
Absolutely
That looks pretty amazing. Almost too good to be true so I would definitely be suspicious based on quality and the price alone (especially because no one else bid). Perhaps you lucked out and no one bid because of the fake McCartneys in the same auction. It might had scared people into thinking if anything in the auction was fake maybe the real stuff was fake too, so people stayed away.
Let us know when you get that in hand and examine it. It’s great you got two COAs with it, although JSA has authenticated many fakes lately.
First of all I want to thank you all for your assessments, knowledge, expertise and last but not least, your precious time.
Altogether I have 3 LOA , REAL, JSA and Gottahaveit (I don‘t know, if the last one counts😉) and the opinion of ballroom.
I‘ll get back to you at the latest, when the photo arrives.
Please, don‘t hesitate to write anything that helps to clear up if it’s genuine or not.
May I ask you what you think?
genuine or not?
I hope so much that it’s real.
I do too. The only additional thing to do is wait and do an in-hand exam with the information presented here and you might also write Conker for further details on plotting devices and spotting what they produce. I am hoping that any mechanical indentation from such devices will be visibly mechanically even. Right now it makes me nervous as I mentioned in my first response - perhaps too neat, unfaded, clean and perfect...the single bidder and low price.
