On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

Steve,
Is there anyway you could brake down these 4 signed items. I am unable to do this on the computer, I am using tonight. Could you post all of the M's in the 4 Michael's shown here, leaving the connection with the M to the ' i ' in Michael. I would also like to make a comparison of all the letters "H" in the 4 signatures. Finally I need to see if you could just show me the 'e" in Love on the first Pepsi example and the last letter written on the second signature the signed book To Cos & Sandy.
Thank You for the help.

This discussion was posted last Monday and not one Michael Jackson autograph like the ones in the Tompkins & Bush sale has turned up. Almost 300 Michael Jackson autographs in a style never seen before, all from the same source, with handwriting characteristics clearly not Jackson's. And Julien's thinks it's OK to sell them.

This is so f***** up, I'm tired of forgeries.

The handwriting characteristics are Bush's! How can they be blind...?

Wow...that is brilliant! Excellent comparative analysis...how can a person not see that these are done by bush himself???

By the way, there is another signed vinyl cover with Kim fields on the cover that has the double xx at the end of the signature. Actually there are 3-4 examples of it.

why would Michael Jackson even bother signing a Kim Fields record ??

.....for Michael Bush, yet.  Great point.

I'm telling you, I've seen this SAME forgery style all over eBay for the past few years on hundreds of the same type MJ collectibles ( LPs, 45s, stuffed animals, etc ).  As I said in my original post, they are now all removed from the eBay database.

Looks like some of what couldn't pass the stink test and get sold to the wise eBay shoppers looking to purchase genuine MJ signatures, is being re-merchandized for sale in a different "venue".

Have you tried the ebay archives on www.worthpoint.com?
