Authenticity is Everything
1st ed "Fangoria" mag w MANY autographs, Christopher Lee, etc
I purchased a 65 gallon Rubbermaid locking lid tub at an estate sale that was full of Horror memorabilia. I did not go through the contents at the sale, as the price was right, and I was very pleased with the few pieces I did examine on top. Those pieces included rolled movie posters dating back to the 1960's, lobby cards, comics, books, some Rock and Roll items, etc. I was able to sell those items after researching them, however, that leaves me with the final items: autographed pamphlets from Horror Conventions, and a 1st edition copy of "Fangoria" magazine from 1979 that contains well over 20+ autographs.
I have been in touch with the editor at the time of the magazine's release, and he said that there was no 'Launch party' or anything, however the magazine did sponsor "Weekends of Horror" for fans to come out and meet the artists and actors responsible for their favorite Dracula, Zombie, or other horror films. Once the magazine was purchased by Creative Entertainment in the 1980's, these types of gatherings continued, and evolved into convention type extravaganzas. I believe that this is where this collector would have been able to gather as many autographs as they did on a single object.
I have uploaded 4 photos of the pages with most of the signatures. I would be very interested in your opinions as to whether they could be genuine, and if they are, what would be the process to have it appraised.

I feel pretty comfortable in saying that your Michael Berryman, Gunnar Hansen, and Doug Bradley are all authentic, I have gotten all of their signatures live and I double checked my copies (which have been signed within the last 10 years or so) they all look good to me. They all still sign in conventions between $15 to $20 each. Very nice magazine!

The Tom Savini is also legit (sorry just saw that pic) I have a couple of his as well and signs now anything as long as you buy something from him first (roughly $20) Ken Foree is also correct to my in person. Many of the other names on the Dawn of the Dead page I have seen still doing graphs and like I said are all around the $20 price (some of the zombies will do a group rate which can make it a little cheaper)

Adam, I appreciate your taking the time to compare the signatures. I am hoping the Christopher Lee is authentic as well, as I imagine that would be the most valuable in the issue.

I've never spent time studying convention graphs because I got them all in person, but I will say that my biggest problem with this piece is the size of the different autographs and the consistency of the thickness of the signatures. Doug Bradley, Ben Chapman and Christopher Lee usually sign much smaller than that, and Romero is usually much larger. Some graphs have a certain streakiness to them that shows they were signed at an appropriate speed, but others have the same thickness from start to finish. The placement of the signatures on the Dawn of the Dead page is suspect as well. I also don't like how some of the signatures on that page have characteristics of being signed by the same hand. If Savini signed like that at some point, he doesn't sign like that now. You may be looking at a mixed bag here where more of the common ones are real and others are not.

Sorry to say, but I don't think you're going to find any of these signatures to be authentic. Many of the signatures appear to be signed by the same person. Most of the signatures being slowly drawn w/ some uncertainty on a few. There are a number of similarities with certain letters within different signatures, such as the upper arched curve over, on the top of small cursive a's, the upper loop-arounds connecting cursive o's to letters. Gunnar Hansen's signature doesn't look authentic and it looks slowly drawn. Doug Bradley's signature doesn't look authentic. I also noticed the first n in Hansen, looks very similar to ir in Blair (Linda Blair), on the front cover.
