Awhile back I purchased a Rolling Stones newspaper. It was OKed by Roger Epperson before I purchased it. I didn't see, nor can I now see, there was any problems with it. I matted the paper and eventually offered it for sale on eBay where it was pulled by them.

I have since found out that this item sold on eBay in the past without a problem.

Yesterday, I received information from a member on this site who noticed this in a previous discussion and was informed by them that this is a known forgery style.

To also be fair, I have seen an email where Roger Epperson again(today) responded this set of signatures looks fine. Also, I have in my possession a ticket to the event on the same date as the newspaper, attendance wristbands for the event, and photo of the event site and inside during the concert.

I simply would appreciate to figure out if these signatures are, indeed, genuine or do they appear suspect. I both love and dislike a challenge and this is one to me. Appreciate any and all thoughtful responses.

Thank-you.

Unfortunately, tip of the iceberg.

This was on Etsy at one point.

It says: The box cover for the 1997 Bridges to Babylon promotional pack, with this one being one of only ten copies to be fully signed by the band...

One of ten? Mercy, if authentic, think of what they would be worth! What a prize for any collection. If they were authentic that is.

RR Auction has taken the item down - props to them. Does this mean that Epperson also changed his mind about these styles? Or did they go against his opinion?

Another victory for the good guys!

+1 for RR

It could be anything. If they find out that the authenticity of a lot is this controversial, they're likely to pull it from a sale no matter what they or their authenticator think.

Good, another fake... And who is the authenticator of RR auction? And i'm bad and stupid for some people of this site, if I say that the true problem is not this magazine fake but the authenticator... Crazy!!

You are not crazy, BDM. You are talking about a side effect. The root of the problem is deeper than that.

We hear a lot of complaints about eBay. That is small potatoes. I believe there are many, very honest people who are being duped. I hate to say that but it's the truth.

Just reached the end of thread- glad you settled it with the seller, Joe! As far as I can see, you handled this whole thing as a gentleman and with a level head. Hats off to you

I don't believe the authenticator is the problem as you keep focusing on.
This piece fooled many people including yourself.
The greater problem is with who is making these forgeries. Someone this good is no doubt producing many more and possibly other bands.
We already know the seller is a spineless weezle but we need to find out who is making these forgeries and spread the word.
Good people are getting ripped off and being mr nice guy is over.
