Are These Autos Legit? Gretzky, Sayers, Kobe, McNair, Gonzalez, George, Blake

I purchased these signed figures and I just want to make sure they are authentic.  Several bids were made on each and the seller has over 2000 positives so I felt good about winning them, plus I was already told the Dennis Rodman signatures looked good.

When I compared them to signed photos they seemed close but you just never know...

I would really appreciate any help especially with the bigger names!

The Gale Sayers looks off to me. He typically has a very fluid way of forming the L and S. That one looks labored, even for a rushed signature.

Thanks for the reply!  Are you familiar with any of the others?

I think the Sayers is good if the seller would say it's recent. His recent ttm responses have been coming back with a note stating he no longer signed. He is ill according to the fans receiving the notes. It's possible this was a recent autograph around the time he stopped. If not, if the seller says it was signed years ago-then it's definitely not real. It does seem like his handwriting if he were not able to sign as neatly as previous years.

Good to know and I just asked... Do you have signatures from anyone else above?

The seller replied with this;

It was around 2007; after his newest autobiography was published. I got the figure and his book signed at the same time (not selling the book)

Is that recent enough?

I think generally they all are good though don't know Blake's auto.  I think it was harder for Sayers to sign over the bubble of pkg, and sig is very close to that already.  Gonzales is legit.  I looked at all those figures when you inquired of Rodman, even considered some but didn't really need.  I trusted others they had avail too.

What were the circumstances in which he ended up getting Starling Lineups signed? Especially curious how he pulled off Gretzky and Bryant.

I wondered that too... Do you feel the signatures are authentic though, especially Gretzky and Bryant?

Here's my take - and I'll start by saying that I have very limited knowledge of any of these signatures. But I would approach something like this with skepticism, and I'd only pursue it if the seller has some viable explanation for a collection of signed SLUs. How were they obtained? Obviously, this comes from a collection of signed SLU's, obtained by either the seller or whoever he purchased them from. I'd like to know the story behind them. Otherwise I'd glance at these and my initial instinct would be that they're not worth considering.

The only signature I am familiar with of the group is Sayers. And IMHO it looks off. But my take is similar to Rich. Even if a signature is real, if it's a poor example it will always be questioned. Bad examples are second only to forgeries as things I don't want in my collection. Without good provenance, they really have limited value because a potential buyer in the future will have to go through this very same exercise. I certainly hope you get some provenance for the Kobe and Gretzky. Those are definitely the high dollar autographs of that group.

I'm waiting for the seller to send me a pic of the book that was signed with the Sayers figure?

When I asked about info on the Gretzky and Bryant and if they were signed in person I got;

Yes. Couldn't tell you exactly when. I was with my Brother-in-law. He's a sports/celebrity agent. Both Signed in LA.

The Jeff Blake and gold ink Dennis Rodman are the 2 I wanted most but it would be a bummer to pay $40.00 and $45.00 for fake Gretzky and Bryant signatures though...

Also, the seller told me a pic of Steve McNair signing this figure was sent with the package so that's making me feel better I think? HaHa

That's a positive at least and that he's communicating with you.
