Hello,

I  bought this a few days ago in an auction.

It is an full color intact pull-out photo included in an 1964 UK-magazine called „Scream“.

I‘m very interested to know what you think about it, thank you.

No, I didn't know of this thread until now. However, I haven't seen the signed magazine in person and, therefore, haven't been able to examine the autographs. In other words, my reply was mainly that I couldn't say yes or no.

I understand if you feel that it's a meaningless reply, but I felt that I wanted to answer the friendly email that I received.

I also added that I do value Roger Epperson's expertise in music-related autographs higher than my own. My specialty is more for owned/worn items rather than autographs and handwriting. However, I've been collecting handwritten material for many years and I have learned a lot over the years, so I sell signed items from time to time. Whenever I sell signed items, I always have third-party LOAs accompanied by the item.

Mr.Kite1970,

I can imagine these waters are tough to navigate. In my efforts to help I might have seemed overly critical - be assured I am only trying to help. My apologies.

I may be jaded but I don’t think anything slips through the cracks anymore. This was a well publicized auction (I even got a mailer) and I know at least 5 top dealers that would’ve scooped it up at that price. It’s tough to get a clean set under retail these days since they usually buy them and you see them on their websites within a week or two. Unfortunately, it’s their full-time job to scour every auction worldwide to make their margin.

Thank you Eric, appreciate that and that so many members taking part in this craziness😉.

Yes, its damn hard to decide what to do, there is no 100% real or 100% forgerie.

It was confirmed to me that I could cancel the order if I was unsure

On the other hand there’s a wonderfully singed photo with 3 LOA (all 3 were involved in the authentication), and I love it, but the small doubts are there.

I think I‘ll flip a coin.

If you have the chance to cancel the order now I would go ahead and do it especially since there is doubt to authenticity and if you discover later these are indeed forgeries then you basically have no recourse and are stuck with them. I would cancel sale now and buy from another place where it’s easier to return if found to be fake.

Were it me, I would cancel as that is the only option that has a known & controllable outcome. I, as in me, would likely feel I had already flipped a coin perhaps without knowing it. I would see this as a rather rare opportunity to back out-  and take it. Others will have different advice. Great prices fade, small doubts only grow IMHO. They appeared to grow just in this thread as information of various types was added - for several folks, I think.

as a collector, the doubt would always bug me, despite the LOA's.  The LOA's would help you if you ever want to sell it, but if you are just looking for a signed Beatles item, I would return it and spend the money on a no doubter.

plus one.  IMHO you have just been given  a get out of jail card free, - the ability to cancel the purchase despite it having 2 coas, so I would take this opportunity if I were you.   I have never heard of an auction house allowing you to cancel after winning an auction especially with all these coas .They usually threaten legal action to make you pay  and they are not blocking you from bidding in other auctions    .However, if you are happy with your purchase ignore what anyone says and keep it.  You are after  all the  one who is spending  your money on it and it is a lot of money , altho it should have sold for loads more

Michelle said the key words, all that matters is how YOU feel about the item, not how anyone else does.  if you are happy with it, then keep it.

MrKite,

I think that they are more likely than not forgeries.

Here’s the Miami postcard, which turned up around 10 years ago.

I don’t like that.
