The problem is that it begs the question of how much he does or doesn't know about the projects/initiatives he's involved in beyond his painting.

Hell, I don't even believe he actually wrote the book - I think it was farmed out to a ghostwriter (an allegation that's been brought up by artists like Joni Mitchell, among others). If he didn't know that there was a deal (to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars) to upsell a $50 book by a massive amount in his name while using autopen signatures, he's a terrible businessman and should find better management.

He didn't have to do any of this. Just release the book and move on. People would have said it was great and went on their merry way.

I have no sympathy for artists or creators who fleece their fans and then claim ignorance after the fact, nor publishers who try to downplay or ignore the concerns of their community.

Stepeanut knows the industry very well and he agrees - impossible not to know. Dylan would have to be an idiot to leave these things to management or lower management.

I don’t have a dog in this fight but I agree with Steve that Bob wasn’t aware of this. I honestly think the cover of this book looks like something you would find in the Dollar Store and looks so “stock” for a big name like Dylan to attach his name to. My theory is he sold his name to someone to ghost write this book. The book was probably written by some lackey. Just looks so amateur to me and not something that would be signed by a big artist like Dylan in the first place.

Agree the cover is pretty bad lol

The top half looks like a 1950's "B" sci-fi movie title.

Conker can you do me a favor. Can you take a full shot of your book with a piece of paper on it with the date and your name Conker on the signature page

if you want I can do the same for you

so cool we have the same one of a kind item :)

damn thing rotated.
My goodness thank you. Let me do the same for you.

same exact signature - except there are some differences in the dots at starting and end points

It does seem very unlikely that Dylan could be dumb enough and greedy enough to agree to something like this. Autopens of his signature in 1,000 books with his name on them for $600 each? There has to be more to the story, but we’ll never know exactly how this disaster came about.

I Agree Steve, i don't think Bob knew anything about this, he probably didn't even know about the book at all let alone any copies being signed !

I'm sure if he had any involvement in any of it being written let alone signed - he would of had one of his many fantastic photos of himself on the Cover for starters !

This is down to the Frausters at Simpletons & Shitster ! Well you know who i mean !

the guy didn't show up for his Nobel Prize,

so chances of him signing 900 (or even 100) copies of anything were "blowin' in the wind".
