Well, thank you for your original posts.  It was because of your posts that I stopped at a B&N after work on a whim. I almost stopped going through the pile of books thinking "This isn't going to happen". Very last book at the bottom of the pile LOL

Very Fine Books had their books up at $395. That's a lot of money for a slipcase. The 40 pieces sold out in 10 minutes or faster.

I wouldn't have paid that but checked the minute I got the email and they were gone already

Yes that's so sad that 40 people have more money than sense - or maybe it was Just 1 ebay flipper and his bot that bought the lot !!

There are a lot of people who don't look further than the 40 edition size and "it comes with a COA!"

I doubt there's much room in that to flip on that $395 pricetag.

So many copies available and not very much variation in the copies says to me not to partake but to each his own

I checked at 1209 already sold out. Got one from Easons but was curious on price. Now if I could only get my brian johnson from waterstones

Agreed! Seems like we've only been waiting since April 2021! Sheeeeesh!

BTW if any of you haven't found a 'Bono' signed book yet, check with your local B&N they're mixed in with the regular edition books, not many though(I love a good treasure hunt!),FYI!

I’m trying to understand the value in this Very Fine Books business model.

Are these even official product, produced by the publisher, or do they just buy in a bunch of regular signed copies then shove them in their own slipcases?  That’s how it appears to my eyes.  If so, what a crock.

Yes great new business venture !

Buy signed copies for £25.00 stick em' in a £5.00 slipcase case and print off a COA that any tom Dick or Harry can print off for a few pence, laminate it for a few more pence then sell for £400.00 £350+ profit for 2 minutes work - KERCHING !!!! Why aren't we all doing it?

Very Fine books didn't even put a photo of what they will look like !

They are just fancy flippers, they buy as many as they can, buy their own slip cases, and say they are "Limited Edition"....Boom, bob's your uncle, $395.

Many thanks for the suggestion to just check the stacks of books at B&N.

On a whim I stopped into the only B&N left in my area. The very first book Iooked at was signed.  There were 16 books on the table and I found two that were signed.  Neither had a "signed copy" sticker.

It is such a simple signature I was slightly hesitant, but I realized the signed copies had an extra tipped-in blank page with the signature.  The unsigned ones did not have this page.  So, I was confident that some joker was not just scribbling names in the books.
