Hello All,

New to the site and collecting NASCAR Auto'ed memorabilia... I could use some input on these Dale Sr. Auto's I purchased off ebay. I now believe the ebay seller I bought these from is selling Dale Sr Auto'ed items on ebay under 3 different user ID's so I suspect these might be fakes...

I hope I am wrong but as I put everything together, the nearly identical listings, the identical patterns of feedback left for buyers, and the same last name on 2 sellers Id's I know for sure I have purchased from 2 of the 3 ID's!

I would like a professional opinion before I start calling out any ebay seller, ers...

Thank You!!!

Mike.

Hey I stumbled upon this discussion in search of finding out if my own signed pic is real. Any thoughts???

Michael, not every Dale Sr photo like this is bad (this photo is actually from the 1990 GM Goodwrench hero card ) photos of this pose were released later.

This is a common pose to find signed by Dale Sr.

Why don't you show yours here and I will help you determine if it's good or not.

Here are the rest of the probable fake Dale Sr. auto'ed items purchased from goin3wyde last year! Basically identical to the ones I bought from bassmaster3n8 last week!!!

Michael, The only one that is authentic is the Autographics insert card.  The rest are fakes that were sold by the thousands on ebay.  The Dale Earnhardt Jr autograph is fake too.

Sorry bud.  Tell you what, PM your address and I will mail you a Dale Sr. signed trading card from my collection.  These forgeries aren't sold as much on ebay now. However, between 5-8 years ago, it was the wild west for NASCAR autographs.

I would think Mike can recoup some of his $$, depending on the fine print, from some of these ebay sellers by filing claims of "non-authentic" sold as "authentic".

Nothing worse than being the "Bearer of Good News" especially when you feel.. "it has to be authentic", right!

I know man.  It gets old, especially when you see the same old forgeries pop back up.   I will help Michael talk to the seller 1st to get his money back. Of course, the seller already claims that he "bought" the items.

I just want to make sure Michael gets his money back and gets a real Dale Sr. autograph for his collection.

good news travels fast!  Seems others starting detecting this before Mike and based on his responses he "really believed" they were authentic.  For the "low end" sellers on EBAY this is probably too common a story.  Maybe he should come here and read your studies.

Sorry bud, these are all bad too.

don't worry about it, I have a Ton of Dale Sr. autographs left. I don't mind sending you one. I was lucky enough to meet him more times than I can count.  I always like to pay his kindness to me forward.

Brandon, before Mike contemplates jumping from the bridge why not post a few authentic in person ones...

just happened to see a link to another thread that posted an inperson signed one;

http://live.autographmagazine.com/photo/dale-earnhardt-sr-autograph...

 or if you don't fell like jumping to that thread;

Inperson signed book during the 1998 Winston Preview in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Yes, the above book is a great example of an in-person Dale Sr. autograph.

Here are some other in-person examples.

Here is a set of cards that another member ( John Besselman ) posted a while back. I will try to upload more later this week-end. I hope the book thet DB just added and the photos I added will help people see what to look for. These are standard Dale Earnhardt Sr. autographs.

Man it's a good thing Cleveland is known as the city of bridges, it gives me plenty to pick from... The silver ink auto's I pretty much had a bad feeling about going in, but these I actually thought were legit from the get go!

If you don't mind I need some cheering up about now, how about these two!!! And if these are fakes, just reply TAPS cuz I'm jumping!!!  ;0) Thanks also DB for posting your pic, much appreciated...

I'm sure you have figured it out but both of these McDonalds cards are not authentic.

A lot of people have no idea how many NASCARforgeries exist. They forget about it's world wide popularity.

You should never be able to pay less than $50 for a signed Dale sr. Trading card. If you do pay less than that, especially on ebay, you nore than likely bought a fake. There are very serious collectors out there that would drive the price of an authentic item to the $50-$500 range depending what the signature is on.
