He's an English officer. Gonna guess Navy Admiral.  Is that a Tudor Rose emblem under the Crown emblem on his headgear? Can you post a really close picture of it?

I think easiest way to identify who that is would be to identify the emblems on his uniform. Then researching to see who had status enough to sign photos of that time.

Here's the emblem.  Looks like flowers.  Also the ribbons.

Thanks Herman. I sent them over to a friend of mine who collects military, emblems, badges, awards and such from WW2. Might take him a couple days to get back to me. I know he was traveling for Easter.

I've been following this with interest.

Maybe this site, or something like it? Perhaps you saw this already. RN Officers 1939-1945 Mich-Moir. There are just few Mitchells, but there are some photos and some info about the decorations.

I think so. Royal Navy was my first guess. It is interesting for sure.

That's a tough one. I would also say Navy. However, I've never seen that logo on any Royal Navy hat. Even foreign service. All had (and still do) an anchor incorporated into the logo. And the crown was typically much more prominent. Even Australia and New Zealand. But I have also not seen any WW2 era British officer's hat that was white on top that wasn't Navy. 

I think if you find what part of the Royal Military that logo is associated with, you'll find the officer.
