Just wondering if this has happened to any one.
Received a call from ebay yesterday questioning the authenticity of the autograph I've put up for auction.
He said that his "experts" thought it was not authentic and he was going to pull it.
I was a little suspicious that he was not who he said he was, but after a while he was able to prove he really was from ebay.
I explained the origin of the autograph and told him his experts are wrong.
But thanks to this website, I was able to show him your comments on it and he recognized one of the posters and said that was good enough for him.
So thank you to all that commented on my autograph. You helped me tremendously and I really do apprecitate it.

I have NEVER heard of this happening.
Sounds fishy to me.
Yea, that's what I thought. He was able to prove he could get into my ebay information and read my messages, unless he hacked into it somehow.
Said he was from ebay fraud dept. John Draper, got him on my caller ID.
I didn't have time yesterday but I'm going to try to verify him with ebay today.
I'll update here when I do.
Yup, he was actually from ebay. Spoke to them just now and they had his notes in my file. Whew!
Im going to check this out
I am just amazed Ebay even has a fraud department.
Well I'm glad they didn't do that! When I called ebay earlier and told the rep he called me, she said I would have received a message first and doubted it was legit. But after checking she said it was true.
And yes, I told him his experts were wrong. It did upset my morning, as well.
You are lucky.. I have never heard of ebay calling anyone - or even allowing them to back their items up. I once had 10 Steiner certified baseballs pulled off of ebay and my account suspended with no questions asked, no due process. When I called customer service to ask why the items were removed, they said "they were in violation of their policy" and hung up on me.
I'm sure a lot of people have horror stories from ebay. I hope they are starting to turn things around, because clearly the "experts" they are relying on to police their items really don't have a clue.
Ebay doesn't exactly have a glowing legacy of great customer service. Some of this stuff, sadly, sounds par for the course. The plethora of forgeries is A-okay, but it's the authentic stuff that makes them uneasy.
that is weird! i have had several beatles auto's. pulled by ebay through the years that were open and shut real. never have i been called to tell me they are thinking about pulling my items, they just did it. just last month, i had a beautiful 1966 paul auto. that was pulled after only 3 hrs. up, and had 12 watchers. you tell me how fake after fake is allowed to be listed and relisted without c.o.a.'s and never gets pulled. and a real one gets pulled in 3 hrs. even when fakes are pulled by ebay it takes days. the paul i am talking about, i sold to ballroomdays the day after it was pulled. i think there is more to the story with beatles autographs on ebay other than people who are their authenticators not knowing what is real and not real. real ones get pulled with any loop hole they can come up with, and the fakes remain to be sold, smells bad, just can't come up with the fragrance yet.
