Before I continue, below are links showing hundreds of examples of forged Mickey Mantle baseballs, photos, etc. found on Ebay (the most dangerous place to buy autographs if you're a casual collector or impulse buyer).

Check out these obvious and laughable forged Mickey Mantle baseballs listed by Ebay seller Mame-95.
These are about as bad as it gets, but here's the kicker; the story is even better!!!
The first one is a forged Mickey Mantle Budig baseball with the inscription "HOF 74."
First of all, we all know that authentic Mantle autographs on Budig baseballs are extremely rare and very valuable.
This is not one of them.

Here's the seller's story.

Another part of the description that cracked me up when was the seller writes "
Seriously!!!
The seller couldn't come up with a more palatable story than that!!!
Here's another forged Mickey Mantle Budig baseball listed by Ebay seller Mame-95.
Again laughable.
Same ridiculous story as above.

Here is a forged Derek Jeter baseball listed by Ebay seller Mame-95.
This is truly laughable.

I will continue to expose Ebay sellers of forgeries.
This crap continues to devalue the authentic collections of real collectors.
The forgery industry is huge on Ebay because the sellers of this crap know that Ebay is heavily-populated with delusional autograph collectors and impulse buyers who know zero about autographs.

Mantle's restaurant is 60 blocks north of Wall Street and has has never been a Wall Street trader hangout. And even if it was, Mantle was not there signing baseballs the last year of his life. A dumb story.
It sure is, Steve.
These seller's will go to any length to sell their forgeries.
that's an interesting story. If I were able to get Mantle to sign anything in the late 90's I would be bragging about it too, since he passed away in 1995. there are very few authentic Mantle signatures on Budig balls.
For sure!!!
I should probably know this, but why are the Budig signed balls so rare?
Mantle died in 1995. He was only around for a short period of time when the Budig balls were introduced, and he was sick during that time. I believe I have only see two authentic ones.
Thanks for the info. I got Mantle to signed a few balls (among other items) at his second to last show at the Riviera in Vegas, just before he passed away. I never looked at who the commish was on the baseballs. I probably should take a look.
I have only observed two Mantle authentic autographs on Budig baseballs also.
