Noticed a few of these fully signed Floyd albums to hit the market via dealers/eBay....both of which share same characteristics for David, Nick, and Rick - all three are not authentic. These albums have came out of the UK.

The first item below, the Waters is definitely authentic and one the second album, I would lean more toward not likely authentic for Roger (or if authentic - VERY atypical). However, I am very confident that these are coming from the same source and I am very confident that the other three are NOT authentic. FYI to avoid.

I don't know for certain which items are real/not real -- but here is the site that has the two fully signed Pink Floyd LPs for sale:  http://autographsale.net/

Member's name: Greig McArthur - Glasgow Scotland

The "About Us" page on this web site does state this;

"Welcome to AutographSale, we are Registered Autograph Dealers approved by the UACC #306."

They are also listed on the UACC Dealer Directory.

http://uacc.org/dealerdirectory.php

the 4 items listed currently on Greig's webpage look legit

Are you referring to the Floyd albums I have questioned?

No not all Seamus... those are definitely bad

I'm referring to his current listings on the front page

http://autographsale.net/

yardbirds, floyd, zep, beatles

I can't tell what going on here

Seamus,

I understand your concern about people with questionable autographs still being members. I rarely remove members from this site, unless they're abusive, spammers, impersonating others, or significantly and pervasively hurting the flow of conversation and won't respect my warnings.

This is why:

  1. Every collector must learn that they need to make sure that the autograph they're considering buying is likely real before they buy it, no matter how respected, trusted and legitimate the seller seems to be. I don't want anyone to assume that because someone's a member they are OK to buy from. The most successful—and dangerous—sellers are good confidence men, or women, who often mix good and bad. When someone asks me if a member is OK to buy from I usually tell them to make sure the autograph is good before they buy no matter who it is—and always pay by regular PayPal so you have their buyer protection. PayPal Friends and Family has no buyer protection.

  2. Sometimes a member doesn't realize they have forgeries in their collections or inventory, and don't believe it even if they're told, at least for a while. By keeping them as a member, they may finally realize the truth and change. And the discussions involving them help other collectors learn how to identify potential forgeries and protect themselves.

  3. It's not unusual for the owner of autograph called out as likely fake to join Autograph Live to defend the autographs and themselves. That often leads to valuable insight for all. We've had some extremely insightful discussions over the years by allowing them to stay as members.

+1. A most valuable site - thanks Steve, we appreciate it.

It is absolutely OK to name members you think are selling forgeries. Feel free to post a comment on their profile with a link to the discussion, or reply if it's a long one.

Thanks Steve - I am looking forward to hearing a response.

I'll send him a message.

In my humble opinion, members who are knowingly selling forgeries should be removed.

This is the one place I feel safe for authentic signatures and it's my opinion that cleaning house is a part of it.

I understand your points Steve and like the way you run your site.... but there is a difference between an honest mistake and a blatant continued attempt to sell forgeries. These later folks must be banned IMO.

I've come close to buying from Greig McArthur and I think he sells on the RACC facebook site as well.

I would like to hear what Greig has to say in reply to all this.

I just checked the RACC members log and he is not a member...Under that name at least.
