Sure glad I got this completed through private signing back in the fall. The last one I would have thought would need to be done promptly, but goes to show how nothing in life is guaranteed. Sad.

Makes you really question mortality and want to just try harder to be good to other people because you really just do not know how long we have...

Get Prowse while you can, he's not in the best of health either.

Yeah hes 81 now? JEJ 85? I think. I know dave's autograph is common as hes done a lot of signings hasnt he but still, once hes gone thats it.

As harsh as it sounds its why i wanted their autographs because with carrie etc we just dont know how long they will be around and its nice to have that piece of history.

He's not traveling to the US anymore, so the only chance to get him is to send overseas to someone going to a UK con, or a company like Showmasters.

How safe is it sending a valuable piece to a place like Showmasters so that you can get Prowse or other stars you don't have to sign it?

Years ago a guy named Graham Miles handled all the send ins for Showmasters. I can't possibly speak highly enough about Graham, not only is the guy a true master with a love and passion for this hobby that defies logic, but his research and work brought you so many Showmasters guests to the shows over the course of years, that he has directly been responsible for many names in most collections.

Since his departure from the company a rotating staff of collectors & fans have tried to take over, and some have been more successful than others.

Before sending anything of value, I would ask exactly who will be handling the send ins for any future shows. Get actual names, and be sure they are a well respected and trustworthy collector.

from what i know based on people who have sent stuff in to be signed, there perfect, they keep you updated, and at any point you can contact and find out where it is etc

If you are on Facebook, join Star Wars Autograph Universe. We have over 2000 collectors on there, including Graham, many that offer help for overseas cons.

Showmasters lately has been decent, but their communication is terrible. You will send them an item and 6 weeks later it shows up in your mailbox with a signature - nothing in between.

I agree with Pete, it's always better to put your item in the hands of a collector who cares about the value and importance of your item and is not just rushing to get it done.

Thanks to all. Great information.

Guys, how would you like it if you were a celeb and collectors talked about getting your autograph while they can?

Maybe I wasnt clear with my comment and it came off the wrong way, I did not mean any bad intent by anything I said.

I'm a big fan and after seeing Carrie pass away it made me realise that none of us live forever, they are getting to the later stages of their lives so I decided I wanted to have a small piece of history as a fan of theirs and the movies that I could keep and pass down to my kids etc.

I personally don't think they'd take offense to that if anything the opposite (I could be wrong however?) But if I've said anything that is against the rules feel free to remove the comment (I'm new here).
