Has someone brought this to their attention yet? Surely they wouldn't want to keep on doing this. I mean, I know maybe it's a way for them to rake in some fast bucks now but in the long run it'll be the ruin or their companies if they don't get it fixed and stop doing this!

with most autopenned signatures today the matrix can be fine tuned to overlap another part of the signature, but the actual name will never vary - unless there is more than one example it is working off of. These autopen signatures here are very primitive and very easy to spot.

F'ing brilliant! I think there are more fakes of those old country Joads than rock n rollers. i think everyone of them either uses a sec, stamp, or autopen. George is actually one of only a few that i actually took the time to go after. All of us rock collectors always at least went after Waylon Jennings, Cash, and Willie Nelson for some reason.

Two different shows at Georges bus a lady gathered items and carried them on to be signed before the show. The signatures were completely different each time, so I suspect one of them is good (maybe) and the other one of course is not. If I can dig them up I will post the two. What a voice though.

I attended George Jones shows for 9 years and the ones I got "off the bus" always looked the same. I got to meet him in person several times over that time period too and those signatures were matches to the ones from the bus after shows.

Unfortunately,

I fear that many George Jones fans will be disappointed in the future, even those with PSA and maybe JSA certs ( i dont know if Roger certs country or not, but dont think he does).

The problem that i have heard from many many sources, is that George really doesnt sign much of his fan mail, or venue items. I have been told by quite a few people that at shows, George's assistant or wife will gather up items and take them on the bus, and then his wife actually does the signing. And she is good at it, better than Heston's sec in my opinion. I have personally never witnessed this, but have been told by so many IP collectors who got a chance to talk to Jones or his management, that George actually didnt sign many items period.

Apparently his wife handled most all of the autographs, including the TTM signatures. I have posted several threads on this here on the site in the past about Jones and his wife, and its really quite interesting. When you compare his wife's signature to many of the Jones signatures (venue and TTM), its a dead match.

I know when i first heard of this i was shocked, b/c George Jones (among TTM collectors) has always been thought of as one of the best authentic signers in country music. If you sent him a letter, you got an autograph. I got 2 this way out of 2 try's. But as i began to hear rumors i started doing research and i saw indeed that his wifes signature very much resembled the Jones signatures. I then made a point of asking quite a few IP country guys and they confirmed it.

I cant say this for fact, but its what i keep getting told, and its been going on for quite a while. Unfortunately, i think that PSA is certing a great number of these secretarials. I have to admit that Georges real signature and his wifes signature are very very similar, and i am still trying, but if you study them hard, their is a difference in my eye, and i think alot of people are going to be disappointed.

I would hope Nancy wouldn't have done this. I have seen a few on eBay where the last name looks kind of like the way she signs hers, but that could be anyone trying to forge a signature I'm sure. It seems like it was usually a man that gathered the items to take on board the bus to be signed and usually Nancy would be somewhere other than on the bus. I remember one year she was outside talking to fans and had everyone line up so people would quit crowding around the door so much. She was outside the bus the whole time though.

It is actually a misconception that George Jones did not sign the autographs that came off of his bus. I;m sure there are instances that he did not - probably many of them, but to say all of them were signed by other people would not be telling the truth. I got to know both Nancy and George, and several members of their crew over the years of going to probably 20 or more of his concerts over my lifetime. I remember one time maybe 9 or 10 years ago, I had walked up to the bus at the venue around soundcheck time and there were swarms of both fans and professional autograph dealers milling around. Nancy was just getting off the bus as I walked up. When she saw me, she stepped back up on the bus and yelled into the cabin "Jack's back". Apparently George had told her to let me on the bus, because Nancy said - "George is up there signing autographs for these folks, go back there and say Hello". In those situations, you never know if a celebrity is going to remember you or not - much less your name, so it was a real treat that they would always treat me like a friend or family whenever I came around. So, I walked onto the bus and there was George signing a pile of photos and albums that the people had given either Nancy or Arch to take on the bus. I remember someone had sent on a guitar to sign and George said "This fella would sh*t if we pulled outta here with this..wouldn't he?". He was a very friendly guy and was always cracking jokes like he had known you his entire life.

The next (and last time) I saw George was in 2009. My wife and I were going to his show, but we were late arriving and was not able to say hello before the show. Afterwards, it was like deja-vu all over again. My wife and I were both invited onto his bus and while we were chatting with a few other people that were fan club or contest winners one of George's crew brought in items that people had wanted him to autograph. I remember he seemed to be in the habit of signing his name because he was very quick and even signed a couple of items twice because he was pre-occupied with talking to people as he was signing. Unfortunately because I had become friendly with both him and Nancy I only ever asked for an autograph here & there. Had I never made a personal connection I probably could have got a lot more, he also would have probably signed 10 for me had I asked, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it because I didn't want to impede upon our friendship. I remember when we got off of the bus before they headed to the airport (George always flew private - either back home to Nashville or to the next city when far away on tour) I wondered if I would get to see him again. My wife had never got her photo with him and we did not ask that night and I told her, we will get it next time. Moral of the story is there may not be a next time!

Again I know there is stuff out there that came off of his bus that is not authentic but to say all of it is not true because I saw him sign items for people on his bus with my own eyes.

He did have a secretary sign his mail in the 90's and early 2000's. These are examples of those signatures:

After this time George was signing authentically through the mail until the fan club started using the autopen 3 or 4 years ago. The autopen signature is the variation that PSA passes as being authentic.

Where did you hear that he had a secretary signing his stuff during this time period? Are you positive? I saw a few like these on eBay and several of them had pictures of the seller with George. I was hoping maybe he had just changed the way he signed a little over the years. These do look a little different than the ones I've gotten in person and from the bus. The "J" is different. I actually purchased a cd right before George passed on eBay I wanted to get your opinion of if you wouldn't mind. It looks very similar to these. I'm hoping it was not signed by a secretary.

After looking at both current and completed George Jones signed items on ebay I could not find one single seller with a photo of Jones signing autographs, or a posed photo with. I am guessing all of the items listed are either from the bus - or the mail. Quite surprising really for a guy that has been performing for 60 years...D

I've seen a few on there, but most of them have their face blurred out. I guess for privacy, but it could also mean it's someone else's picture with George that they ripped off of somewhere else. I have sold a few of my own on there as well and I always offer my buyers a photo of me with George.

This jacket was won by me from CMT,,autograph is on front of jacket right shoulder
