Hello everyone. I’m interested in purchasing a Heath Ledger autograph and have stumbled upon some interesting finds of a Heath Ledger signed 4x6 autograph page book and a signed index card. I am wondering about both of its authenticity. I know that Heath Ledger autographs are rare after his unfortunate passing. Therefore I’m skeptical in purchasing both of the items since I’m not familiar with his signature. If anyone has one they’d like to show me I’d be obliged. Thank you. Here are the two autographs:

I’m not very familiar with his signature, but based on other ones I’ve seen from Awesome Artifacts I would avoid that one.

The first one screams fake. Anything with a COA and sticker like that makes me know it’s fake without even having to look at the autograph accompanying it. Looking at the signature it looks off so I definitely think that one is 100% fake.

The second one I have doubts on too. Heath Ledger is one of the most forged autographs and authentic ones, even on index cards, are thousands. If you ever seen any under a few thousand I assume fake.

I know you didn’t have any Joker signed photo examples but I think I should mention that 99.99999% of all Heath Ledger Joker signed photos are fake. I wouldn’t be surprised if only one or two authentic ones exist in the whole world and all the rest are fake. I saw one authentic one and it sold for around $10,000. I know of only two actual authentic ones with solid provenance that have sold.

Are ones that already authenticated by PSA/DNA, JSA, and or Beckett the best chance since they are more credible?

They have a better chance of being authentic than the ones “authenticated” by no name third parties or random COAs written up for autographs. But even Beckett, PSA and JSA make mistakes and have passed fakes. With someone as heavily forged as Heath Ledger I would be extremely cautious. There are also counterfeit Beckett, PSA and JSA authentication letters and stickers. Be VERY cautious.

Hate to butt in because Heath Ledger has never been on my radar and I have maybe an hours worth of knowledge at best because I was once curious about how often he actually did sign joker items.

JMS1223 is correct about 3rd party authenticators. They can be downright clueless sometimes and I believe they make exceptions for certain dealers. Ive seen a ton certified being sold by probstein123 one of many sellers but this seller sells some of the most by far) on ebay which have flaws or aspects of a signature that have never been documented as being a real trait at any point of the celebrities career.

I'll post one example of how 3rd party authenticators are clueless sometimes. This is a known secretarial of Dan Aykroyd

Not real IMO. And any autograph with a COA that mentions they use forensic principals, a forensic examiner, etc., has a 99.9% chance of being fake from my experience.

In autographs, like TV crime show, forensic examiners are seen at the scene of the crime.

Wanted to add to this... the 3x5 index card is a very common style of Ledger 'autograph' that used to appear weekly on various 8x10 stills (particularly Joker pics). I can't tell you who signs them... but I know one person who definitely doesn't. You'll find hundreds of these floating around.

The 4x6 example is a slightly better 'copy' of what Ledger's autograph actually looked like towards the end of his career... but I suspect anyone with a biro could do a better job.

I would strongly recommend steering clear of both.

Attached is an authentic example from my collection. Good luck with the hunt!
