What are the chances?

I've seen a few "choice items" in this auction-house's catalogues before and have never been convinced.

The Dylan letter would be nice if authentic but why sell it there?

That’s really odd. Obviously, the estimate is crazy low. Here’s an image of the authentic handwritten lyrics. I replaced the image in the OP with a better one.

How was this produced?

I’m not sure what you’re asking.

One is a copy, yes? How was the other made? Ot am I misunderstanding? When you said "...here is an image of the authentic lyrics..." I thought you meant the OP was not authentic.

Ah, got it. I’m not sure what to make of the other one, They both appear to have the same folds and creases. Like Findbooks said, why sell it there? And why with such a low estimate?

Where did the red and green go? Lost in the scan or faded or?

It looks like it’s faded from improper framing.

Ah thanks. Yes.

Do you have an auction record, then, for your example? Was there any provenance with that? How long ago was the sale?

It sounds conceivable, then, that it may be the same piece but degraded?

Which is quite exciting! What did you make of the Bob Dylan letter?

It’s pictured on the Tracks UK website. There are handwritten lyrics for several different songs on that hotel stationary. I haven’t studied Bob Dylan’s handwriting, so I’m not entirely sure about the Dylan letter.

Strange to have such high quality items at an auction house that's not well known for rock and roll. Plus, the 34% commission is the highest I've seen. Plus VAT, tariffs, etc. They also have a fake signed Stones guitar. I wouldn't be surprised if the Hendrix and Dylan are copies. They are also both framed under glass which can hide many sins. They also have a REALLY BAD fake Led Zep LP and Skynyrd LP.

They seem to like Skynrd - ”signed albums” have featured at least twice in the last 12 months, I think.

To my knowledge they are very much a general auctioneer - household clearances, etc. Based in Chelsea though which has its unique local history. It’s plausible that exceptional items might turn up occasionally but they are now regularly featuring a lot of R&R material.
