I'm curious what members thoughts might be on this signed Hitchcock sketch. It has a JSA letter accompanying it (the darker scan is from the JSA website). It's approx. 6" x 6".  If real, does it look to be an earlier sketch? Does the fact that it's not personalized make a difference?  Thanks!

The second Ruth is, indeed, a fake.

Quick opinions are a money making exercise.

I'm agreeing with you Michael.  I feel like I wasted money on having them done on this one by both PSA and Beckett.  As I mentioned above, PSA gave it a likely authentic...Beckett the opposite as likely not authentic.

I disagree with you about Beckett, Michael. They are legitimate.

Etienne, To my eyes the Cory item and the Ruth item were slowly drawn and copied autographs of the Donomic and Ruth item that has only bold lines. In my humble opinion.

David, I agree with you on the one Cory submitted to Beckett for review (the "Ruth") as looking like a copy of the other. I had seen that "Ruth" awhile back on eBay from a seller in Germany. It sold for $475 at that time. As Cory mentions, it's on eBay now from a different source.... for $2K. Yikes!

This is what crooks do... they use high resolution images from Google search, Heritage Auction and RR to manufacture their lightboard trace jobs. You always have to be wary of trace jobs with items on a thin, lightly colored medium.

Most trace jobs are obvious... but there are some forgers who can trace relatively quickly and smoothly while building in some variation in the signature so it doesn't look like an exact copy.

I never thought about the use of a lightboard to trace with...and printing out images that are online to use under the paper.

This hobby is really fraught with possible danger if you don't necessarily know these tricks!

Atypical.  It appears to be slowly drawn and written.

The person who copied it forgot to omit the & before the Ruth :-)

I know...it's so bad. I don't know how the forger missed dropping that while they were carefully carefully copying it.

Likely trace job IMO.

Edited for clarity. The undedicated sketch posted by Corey. Slow and carefully applied. Likely traced.
