I have inherited an autograph book with signatures brom the 1840's tru the 1880's, mostly of poets and a couple of Presidents.  How would I go about valuating and selling this?  I have Googled each name, atleast the ones I can decipher, and believe they are authentic ( a couple do not look quite the same as on google but believe it might be due to changes in signature over the years).  I can also trace ownership of book to original owner.  Here is a list of most of the ledgible and more famous ones along with what was written by each signature.  I can post up scanned pictures of book and pages.

Sounds like it may be a book of quotes with printed autographs. Please post some images, including Lincoln and Poe.

Thanks

Sounds like a printed edition...

Here are some scaned pages.

Thank you guys. I appreciate your analysis of the autograph book. Guess this means I should not be ordering that new Corvette.

They look preprinted or stamped in?

Hi Stacey, unfortunately you can tell by the ink in the writing that these signatures and quotations were machine or engraving imprinted onto the album pages, and not actually written by the individuals. Sorry, if authentic it would have been a very nice collection. Jeff

Stacey,

Hate to say it, but I agree. The signatures were printed in the book.

That is interesting I remember a few years ago a lady in Pennsylvania showed me a similar autograph album that also had Lincoln and Poe's signatures among others that i now cannot recall.
