Hi all.  To explain the history of the items:  I live near and work in New York City and over the years, especially during breaks, I would meet up with other friends I have made.  One of my friends is a doorman in the Upper East Side, where the Yankees and Derek Jeter reside during home games and even on vacations.  He has gotten many memorabilia from them in the past; he is more than happy to accept signed memorabilia rather than a monetary tip!  Well, one day Mr. Jeter was coming home and had a ton of laundry, and in a plastic bag (the same plastic bag that the items are in my possession except my friend wrote my name in permanent marker on the bag) he had two shirts that he had worn for practice and warm-ups at the stadium.  My friend knew I liked the Yanks, and we regularly exchange gifts and I helped around fix his AC in his apartment a while back so he gave it to me free of charge.  This was the story he told me.  I've always been skeptical by nature, but I have known him for a very long time, and it is hard to believe he would hand over something that is illegitimate, especially for no money.  Also, I examined the clothing the night after he gave it to me.  There are no barcodes (maybe hand-stitched?) on the sweater-like shirt and faintly- VERY FAINTLY- you can see the number "2" written with permanent market on the size tag inside the sweater.  They also had a VERY strong scent of body cologne (you didn't even have to hold the clothing close to you to smell it; now, I'm not sure if you can still smell it but when I take pictures I'll let you know..).  

Anyway, it is un-signed (I have tried to get him, but me being an adult doesn't help and I never have seemed to have found a time when he does a sit-down private signing).  I am not going to put a price tag on this item, because for one reason I don't want to put a price too high and secondly because I really have no solid paper-work.  Last year, I had inquired about an authentication company called MEARS (a match-worn authentication company).  I had called them up and explained the situation/articles and they said since Jeter is a "top-tier" celebrity, he has a fee of $500.  This was a little pricey for me, especially if it wasn't signed.  In addition, I don't even know if it is worth getting authenticated!  I know people out there're going to be skeptical as I was when my friend handed me the bag of shirts, but I hope this unofficial "for-sale" post can bring in some advice on not only it's worth, but if it is worth sending out to MEARS for $500.  I don't want to cause any controversy, as I am really the last person to sell a fake, but I understand any skepticism and I hope a solution or recommendation to this dilemma can lead to the solving of this situation. I will upload a load of pictures of the items; close ups of the items, the number "2" on the tag, the whole nine yards, when I get home later tonight.
