This particular MM signed ball was a sub-topic being discussed in another thread that got very involved into other matters, so in order to not have this subject lost in the sauce, I posted here, a separate thread.
New member Matt Cordoves, Chris, Steve, Terrier, and other MM experts were discussing the technicalities of individual letters in this signature.
My expertise in MM is no where near on par with the pros here, I'm still learning MM, but one macro feature of this signature that struck me as strange is its size. Was this signed by the 12 foot tall Mickey Mantle of a parallel universe? lol
I don't recall ever seeing a MM ball with a signature this large. This appears to me to wrap further around the ball than any other I've ever seen, authenticated or not.

good point Woody. I do not recall seeing a Mantle signature on a ball as large as this one.
This, in part, was what I was referring to when I mentioned the signature was stretched out. On the vertical plane the size is not a atypically large… It’s just on the horizontal plane. Typically one would be able to view a full Mantle signature without having to rotate the ball! Spacing… Size… Whatever you want to call it, it’s not typical.
exactly Steve.
Simply a poorly-executed forgery.
Just when I think I start noticing forgeries I find this that PSA authenticated. This looks like a "banana" Or am I way off?
I think PSA got it right. This example does have a half Moon under the second M that is reminiscent of the banana mantle’s… But it’s not one.
Oh yeah. The psa one is the real McCoy.
absolutely authentic. The Banana style usually exhibits that trait in both M's, and also the rest of the signature is way off. this one is spot on.
SMH... I will keep studying.
You and me both, Danny. I'll meet you in the woodshed. I would have also passed on this one; what my first impression would have led me to believe is just another banana Mantle!
Yes, that is an authentic Mantle.
I can see the horizontal stretch on the first ball. The second ball I saw bananas. I read a post on making sure the "C" is a "c" and not an "i" as well as the "k" not traveling to far over the "e"
The M is is tricky in both names.
