Eddie,

Where did you find this? I'm looking forward to expert opinions, but what a fantastic letter!

Look at known authentic writing from Johnny. Notice anything about his "i's"?  Also look at other known authentic letter formations

I don't know Cash...just thought it was cool. But I see what you're talking about. I didn't know there were many forged letters floating around.

Ebay.

I'm sure it will be pulled down.

Oh yea, also look at his "a's" in known authentic writing.  I think the answer will be obvious sadly :(

There is a big factual inaccuracy; A Boy Named Sue was written by Shel Silverstein, nor Shelby Singleton! Singleton is the guy who bought the Sub Records catalog from Dam Phillips. Cash would have never made such a mistake, or would he ?

Nope, He wouldn't have.  He gave credit for the song to Shel on stage at Madison Square Garden in the 1970's  However, this letter wasn't written by John R. Cash :(

But the context is great except for the factual error.

There are some examples of Johny's authentic writing in this thread http://live.autographmagazine.com/forum/topics/johnny-cash-signatur...

Bill Miller and John Carter Cash's new book are filled with examples.

Seems like there's an awful lot of unnecessary punctuation as well - the authentic Cash stuff that I've seen is very bare bones writing style.
