I’ve seen some bad (pun really not intended) Michael Jackson screw-up by TPAs, and this one’s right near the top.  It’s an 8x10 for sale on eBay for $1250.  It’s authenticated by JSA, and it’s in their system.  Important to note, however, is the date of authentication, July 17, 2009.  That’s less than a month after MJ passed away.  TPAs were getting stuff in so that sellers could capitalize on Michael’s death.  And unfortunately, based on some of the stuff I’ve seen authenticated around that time, the major TPAs were not real clear on what constituted an authentic Michael Jackson autograph.  It’s pretty atrocious...I think.  What do you think?

I’m posting a link to the ebay listing because, for some reason, I’m not able to post pics right now.

I mean if you’re going to fake an autograph and draw it this slowly, at least draw better for crying out loud!

James
it looks a bit different than the other M.J autographs
but it looks to me like his handwriting!
I mean why does a signature always have to look perfect ?
It looks to me like he signed somewhere fast.

I suppose it could be a rushed example.  Maybe I’m wrong, but it looks far off to me.

I agree with Ivo, looks like a hot mess rushed IP sig, but looks legit to me.

You know I respect your opinion on MJ more than anyone, but I still think this is a forgery.  But a rushed example is possible.  If I owned it, I could never feel comfortable looking at it and believing I had the real thing.

And I look at that date knowing that the forgers were really going to work to take advantage of MJ’s passing.

The forgeries I saw back at that time mimicked a classic more fuller sig of his - or were too neat and clean, and had too detailed of look (drawn) - or they had traits repeated by the same forgers that you don't ever see in real MJ's.   This one is just messy enough with enough traits for me to make it feel right.

Wascher, if you feel like it’s likely authentic, then I’ll go with that.  You’ve got the knowledge, experience, and the right feel for this stuff, that’s for sure.

I think it's real, too. But a TON of fake MJs got through the TPAs back then.

The photo wouldn't post so I'll try again in a bit.

Here it is.

Thanks, Chris. The system is taking forever to upload right now.
