I could be wrong b/c im not alll that good on Mantle like others here. But i feel pretty confident, that the ball is fake. The Ms appear to large, They appear very slowly drawn and shaky, and the flow looks off completely. The very bottom photo also looks off to me. I have never seen the M in mantle like that before. The other photo im not good enough to comment on and cant see it really well enough to say. but i feel the ball and the bottom photo are both fakes. And as it appears to be the same type of card signed in the first pic as in the third, im guessing that one is bad too. The baseline on the first mantle also doesnt look right, just like the other photo

All look like forgeries to me , the ball is a joke

Thank you for response...I had no confidence in these being authentic....just wanted to make 100% sure i was on the right track...Thanks again

wow, those are pretty bad!

I would never question Mr. Williams opinion on a Mantle signature, and I am certainly not doing it now, but man, that is one of the strangest Mantle's I have ever seen!

Terrier, that particular Mantle autograph isn't really all that uncommon.

the part that is unusual to me, Chris, is the Mi transition in Mickey.  You have certainly studied and seen thousands of Mantle signatures so I am sure you have seen this before, but I certainly haven't.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and respectfully disagree with people for whom I have a great deal of respect.

I think there is a strong possibility the Mantle ball is authentic. It has some subtle positive attributes I really like... things forgers typically do not get right. I think it's just a rushed sloppy authentic signature. Maybe done while walking.

The two photos are undoubtedly authentic in my opinion.

hey zipper. I keep looking at these signatures.  the Mantle part of the ball bothers me more than the unusual glitch with the "ck" in Mickey. I just can't buy into the Mantle.

I understand.

IMO, it was signed very quickly and with confidence. Not the slightest whiff of hesitation. And as sloppy as it is, the hand movement and angles of attack are right.

I think that we have been so conditioned to seeing perfect, sitting show signatures, that it totally throws us when we see one that may have been signed walking through a parking lot. It's not shaky because it was slow or lack of confidence, it's shaky because of movement.

Just my humble opinion. :-)

By the way, I saw these on ebay earlier today and IMO, all the guys stuff was solid.

this is very interesting.  there are some signatures I have studied for years that I feel totally confident in discussing. Mantle has never been one of them.  I rushed to judgment too quickly on these, which is unusual for me. I am going back in my shell now!  LOL

Terrier, I rushed on the ball.   Every once-in-awhile we have to learn to slow down.

Thank you, Mr. Zipper.
