I inherited something like 100 binders of autographs, my father in law got them from all sorts of sources.
Some of them draw suspicion to my inexperienced eye, such as this one. The M and the Y in the inscription are totally different than in the signature. I'm looking for other inscriptions, but in the meantime, does anyone have an opinion? Thank you.

If my name was Marty, I'd take this off your hands in a heartbeat.
The Marty M and y being so different wouldn't trouble you?
Not sure why he would do the M different in Marty, but I’m confident the signature is OK… So the differences do not concern me. You can see the a in Marty is identical to the a in Mantle… Same hand in my opinion.
I did notice that the other letters seem to be the same. I need to find something else written to Marty or Mary or Misty.......
Thank you for answering, by the way:-)
It appears to be his vintage "M". See here and scroll the examples way to the right after the baseballs, there are several examples and some hybrids of what was to come:
Thanks for the link. My upper M and y look like those on the one before the yearbook photo.
You are welcome :)
If my name was "Marty" I would definitely purchase it.
that is one beautiful example of a Mantle signature
Not wanting to beat a dead horse, but I have one more question about this one, having looked at a lot of things from the binders. If you download the picture and zoom in on it, it's like it's the perfect signature. No stops and starts with areas of extra/less ink. Is that okay, and if so is it because of whatever pen he used? I haven't been able to zoom in on an other Mantle signatures.
Typically when you see stops and starts in an autograph, that is NOT a good thing! :-)
