Hello All - I'm very new to the autograph hobby but figured since I'm (luckily !) in possession of a Neil Armstrong + Dave Scott Gemini 8 autograph I should probably learn more about it and understand its worth.

The autographs and a series of photos were taken after the Gemini 8 splashdown off of Okinawa.  My dad was Capt. USAF and assigned as a PR officer to cover this for the AFRTS. I also have a photo of my dad standing on the deck of the recovery ship U.S.S. L.F. Mason one level above the astronauts with all 3 guys in the photo.

I have the original note paper with the two autographs stored in a separate sleeve away from the photos.

Any comments would be appreciated . . . I don't really know what I should be doing with this  - thanks

That's an unusual Armstrong!

I believe the photos are desirable and have some value. I would put them in a space themed auction, where they would likely get the most interest. RR Spring Space Auction would be a good venue as RR gets very strong prices for space material.

The signatures are probably around $1,000 give or take. Unfortunately, the lined paper detracts and will lessen market value.

In the interest of disclosure, I am a space consultant for RR Auction.

Thank you very much for the info !  I will check out the RR site.

I really think it will end up framed along with some of the photos and I hope to display it without damaging it or putting it at risk; very paranoid about UV, etc.  I would like to get it authenticated somehow before I frame it and maybe include that in the display.  Right now it spends all its time locked up in a firesafe and nobody gets to see it ;-(

Here is another photo from the batch my dad had stashed away.  This one looks like it was taken on the U.S.S. L.F. Mason.

These are very nice and desirable original photos.

I am the space authenticator for RR, JSA and a number of other dealers. If you'd like to discuss a  formal evaluation of the signatures, send me a private message.

Well . . . I hope I didn't make things worse,  but rather than play up the Neil Armstrong/Moon Landing connection I decided to try and keep it for what it really is . . . Gemini 8 and we had everything framed for display . . .

I was lucky enough to locate and win a bid on an original March 17, 1966 newspaper front page (found a Montreal Gazette in an archive in Wales/UK of all places )

Also located an original commemorative coin but had to go with a repro mission patch.

So here's what it ended up looking like . . . nice thing for us is my Dad (the source of the autographs and original photos) is in the photo in the upper left corner (standing a few feet away from the astronauts and talking with the Navy divers)

Very well done. Nice job on a gorgeous display!

Thank you !

Hi my name is hannah,
