I would have appreciated the Chris Rock links if I needed him.. and yes I hate resellers with a passion.. but you can't stop them. They existed long before this hobby exploded the last few years.. complaining about them on here wont make them stop. We need to push retailers to limit items sold. This is also a long shot as it requires less manpower to ship 20 items to 1 person instead of 1 item to 20 people. Its probably something we just have to deal with sadly.. be glad that this hobby is popular with the new generation because it will keep all of our collections valuable years down the road

Most of these mass produced autographs won't hold there value. Too many of them were made. True collectors want stuff others don't have. You obviously plan on "reselling" at some point so what's the difference in selling it now for a profit or later?

Ive thought about this a lot the last few months.. for one, I only buy 2 items, one for me and one for my daughters collection. I dont buy 20 to sell on ebay instantly to take advantage of people with FOMO. If I ever do sell, it would be my 1 item. Im not taking anything away from my daughter.. I currently make enough money where I would have to pay more in taxes for any extra income.. Im not about to do that.. its a last resort if I need money to survive. I collect autographs from only people I am a fan of. I plan on getting old and smiling every time I go through my collection, reminiscing of the good old days.. i do place value on my collection as im sure everyone does. We all hope the value increases in the future. Its a great safety net. Honestly, I have so much attachment with my collection that if the time ever came where I had to sell, theres a chance I may not be able to do so. I absolutely love every item I own and, at this moment, if we lost all of our income, I would rather work at McDonald's then sell anything

Jason you just summed up exactly how I feel about collecting and my collection also dude

Right on. Jason yeh thats my hope  personally with my collection when I pass I want to pass it on to my family and hopefully they do the same also and it just keeps going if they get in a rough spot I guess and have to sell it I'd understand but hopefully it just keeps getting passed down for years to come  I think the hobby will still be big many years down the road and long as this digital stuff doesn't take off like a few artists doing digital signings and things like that

There's 2 thing about resellers to consider.

A big concern about resellers is the question of authenticity. Just take a look at eBay and there's fake signed books and even faked art cards. Abebooks is a storefront with independent sellers, so imo with the same concerns as eBay sellers.

Buying "direct" is the closes to authenticity we can come save meeting the artist IP. Even then we have to be aware for autopen and secretarial.

Then there's the feeling we have as collectors when we miss out. Just imagine standing in line to get a signed book from your favourite author and the guy before you walks off with all 50 copies they had. Even if you think it's ok because the store let him, I can't imagine you'll give him a fistbump, a big smile and a "Well-done mate, nice way to make a living!" the moment he walks by. You can expect the same emotions at a collectors forum when someone brags about getting dozens while others missed out.

Guys. People (me)  follow these threads and u guys are inundating emails with this stuff that u could just message people with reseller or collector you’re posting stuff in a autograph forum about your opinions which is not a autograph kindly stop plz

It’s a discussion forum

which is exactly what we are doing if you don’t like the emails then unfollow :)

not being rude but why should we stop discussing because you or other members don’t like the emails popping through makes me laugh lol

In personally don’t care I’ll go through the emails accordingly

Exactly how I feel.... Iracles, you just started a whole other discussion on this thread.. should we all shut up and appease the people waiting on notifications for signed items? Or should we keep the conversations going of what gets posted?... let's discuss...

Except this is a thread about non musician books. Not about arguing or about resellers.

Amen. I personally get tired of coming home to 25 emails that have absolutely nothing to do with the thread. And I shouldn't have to unsubscribe because of the drama and broken record about resellers. This subject needs to be moved to some different part of the forum. It doesn't belong here or the umpteen other threads where it comes up over and over.

All I’m saying is if I want to comment I will wether it makes other members unhappy or not

have a blessed day
